From the spot where Kim Novak threw herself into the bay in the movie 'Vertigo'.
From LA, Rob and I hit the open road and headed for San Francisco where my friend, Tana, had organised a place for us to stay through a friend of a friend. Steve's house was a mansion, complete with big screen TV's, hot tub and Sensory Deprivation Tank and served as a luxury base to explore the (extremely hilly) San Francisco.

It's fair to say that San Francisco is now among the top 10 places I would love to live in, possibly because it had a very 'Melbourne' feel to it. Rob and I did all the sight-seeing things that you do: we ate Clam Chowder down on Fisherman's Wharf, we marvelled at the Golden Gate Bridge, drove down the 'World's Crookedest Road' and then hit the gay bars.

After 4 days in San Francisco I was very excited to hop in the car and head to Eureka to see my friend Theresa, who I hadn't seen in 9 years. Here, Rob and I had an awesome time, mostly spent laughing so much that it hurt, and doing a spot of sight-seeing.

Eureka is right in the middle of Redwood country, so beautiful scenery surrounded us as we went exploring in the forest and nearby beaches. (Rob made mention of an incident in the Redwood forest where I fell out of a tree stump. For those who read it, I would like to clarify that I was fending off an extremely aggressive Grizzly Bear at the time, and it was entirely understandable that I lost my footing).

After 5 days, try as we might, we couldn't convince Theresa to join us on the road, so we sadly had to say goodbye to her and head to our next destination, Portland, Oregon.

It was sad to not only say goodbye to Theresa but to say goodbye to California too. I had been quietly amused by the fact that Arnold Shwarzenegger was governer and I knew that life wouldn't be the same without Arnie's face smiling back at us.

It was Valentine's Day so Rob left an 'I love Theresa and Kate' message in the sand (which further proves how far behind I am on my travel blog).

Have you cheaters seen enough snow?
California has never seemed so lonely. Miss you heaps and still hurting from laughter. Great images too bad we didn't get a shot of the grusome grizzly although the BBQ shot is quite nice and shows what lovely breasts we have here even in Northern California. Heard you made it to Canada for snow boarding action. Oh my powder puff duo! You guys are AWESOME I hope you live forever.
