Go there if you can.
While everyone knows the food in Malaysia is excellent—and cheap—finding good deals on drinks is another issue. Our first night we did sniff out a couple of great spots. We were staying in the Golden Triangle at Guest House Eight (little overpriced, but nice: air con, hot water, Wonder Bread for breakfast, free wi-fi with your own computers). The next time we go back we’ll stay on the same street but at some place else. Anyway, we wandered down one street nearby (I'm forgetting the name) which is filled with tons of restaurants and bars—and here is what we totally loved and recommend. Werner’s has a special during happy hour 5-10 that with every drink, you receive a free tapa of your choice. And these tapas are great. Fried calamari, rustic bread with dark chocolate, shrimp in garlic, etc. And all of this is in a very cool vibe. Go upstairs to the outside bar that is made up of little sectioned off areas of couches. And then we went searching down the street for someplace busy (it was a Wednesday night) and found it in the Social—where—and I still can’t get over this—ladies drink free until one in the morning. Granted, the wine was next to vinegar, but who cares. Free. Very fun vibe and we met some people who we went on over to 21 with and danced until this huge rainstorm moved in and washed us all back home. Great night overall.

Legs
What's on your legs at Werner's?? Is that something to ward of the viper?

The street that you had your meal was probably Changkat Bukit Bintang. The other street named Alor has many open air eateries. You can eat meals after meals on both streets in KL and never get fat. Don't ask me why.

Yes, those are the streets! Thanks for the info. And you are right about how you can eat and eat here and not gain any weight. I'm not going to push this theory too much though. : )
