Back to Bangkok

It's Thursday evening, January 26th and I'm back in Bangkok. I flew in last night from Phuket and made my way to KT Guesthouse ($12), a nice place to crash for a night but a bit far from Bangkok central (not necessarily a bad thing).

I met up with my friend Jonathan this morning and we moved over to the Rex hotel on Sukhumvit near the sky train (easier to get around the city from there).

It's been great hanging out with Jonathan again. We've been friends for about 10 years (has it been that long?), having met through doing high school ministry together at Calvary Community Church. Unfortunately, we've only got a couple of days since I head to Chiang Mai on the 28th and he leaves for Krabi that same day with his girlfriend (she arrives tomorrow night) and some other friends to rock climb.

My train ticket was purchased today from the railway station (took the sky train to the new subway to reach the railway station - it's pretty easy to get around some areas of Bangkok with the public transportation). Tomorrow we go to the bus station to get Jonathan's ticket to Krabi. My ticket to Chiang Mai (12 hour train ride) was around $17. It's an overnight sleeper - should be fun!

For dinner, Jonathan and I went to one of our favorite restaurants in town, Thon Kreung (www.thonkrueng.com). I like this place. I went twice when I was in Bangkok last year. Jonathan has been like 10 times. It's got nice outdoor seating with good food at reasonable prices. Mostly local clientele too.

Anyway, a bit pressed for time tonight...
