Yellow Fin Tuna
Our Valentine Day catch on our Valentine Day fishing lure. Tasted great.Believe it or not, we have had winter down here too. We have had lots of cold fronts, strong winds, even a few cold, cloudy days and we actually wore jackets a couple of times. It seems that this year there has been longer west winds, which makes for a challenge in some of the more common anchorages. We sure aren’t complaining though as we get regular reports from home on the cold and snow there!
We haven’t had as much company this year, and we have been touring around more and visiting other Islands. Sharon’s brother Brian and our nephew Justin wanted to see Long Island , so that was a great reason to leave Georgetown again and meet them in Long Island. It just so happened that there was an organized race from Georgetown to Long Island at the same time, so we participated in that, and went with 40 other boats. That was lots of fun, with some great parties, dinner, and of course the race itself.
Brian was interested in real estate in Long Island, so Sharon and I tagged along with Brian, Justin and the real estate agent, looking at property and houses. It

Located at northern tip of Long Island. gave us the opportunity to see even more of Long Island, one of the most interesting and diverse Islands here. For anyone that likes exploring beaches, and looking for shells, beans, and other beach treasures, Long Island seems to have an endless supply of beautiful beaches. Hopefully the pictures will show some of these beaches. Unfortunately while Brian visited a big cold front came through and we got some of the coldest, windiest weather we have ever seen in the Bahamas.
Typical of one week winter holidays, the day Brian left, the weather turned nice and it has been incredible weather since then. The day Brian left, we headed north and anchored off the white sand beach of Calibash Bay and the Cape Santa Maria resort. This is a fantastic resort, on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Hopefully the pictures show how white the sand is and the beautiful aqua blue colour of the water.
From Calibash Bay we sailed to Conception Island, another National Park with first class diving , more picture perfect beaches, and stunning sunsets. We went to Conception with Bernard and Claude, fellow Canadians from Toronto. They are travelling on
their newest Catamaran that Bernard built called Ti Matou. What a boat…….. Bernard is French and besides having an incredible talent for building boats, he bakes some of the best French bread we’ve ever tasted.
Saturday was Valantines day, and there was a big Valentines party back in Georgetown, so we decided to head back to Georgetown. For Valentines day Sharon had bought us a new fishing lure that hopefully would catch the big one. Well it did!!!!! On the way back to Georgetown we hooked a nice sized ( about 2.5 feet) yellow tailed Tuna. (Pictures as proof included). So Saturday night before going to the big dance at the Chat and Chill we feasted on fresh grilled tuna with our friends on Doublewide.
So here we are , again back in Georgetown. We are going home for a week next Wednesday, hopefully to get some sking in, and of course to pay a visit to our grand daughter Ella.. While we are gone our friends Ingrid and Gary Gander are taking care of About Time. Hopefully the wonderful weather we are now getting will continue for them.
This year, we have had lots of things
break on the boat, so the time until the Ganders arrive, will be spent fixing things. Sill not bad, although someone told us the other day that the definition of CRUISING is “Fixing your boat in exotic places” Right now that really seems true.

What gorgeous photos!! Those beaches don't look too crowded either. Sharon seems to know her fish lures - what a catch! ( I am referring to the tuna, although, I am sure you feel Sharon to be a catch as well ) Have fun on the ski slopes when you are home and keep in touch. Cheers, Yola and Garry
