Greetings for the BEAUTIFUL Dublin airport via blackberry. Let me address while its nice to "disconnect" from the US - the ease and luxary of a BB really helps the trip. I only use it when I need to, and its off the majority of the time.
I digress... Its 230 AM local time, and we have a flight at 650. So... Why not stay in the airport. Mike really put it into perspective... "45 days ago I was in the oval office introducing my family to the president of the United States. Tonight... I'm sleeping in the Dublin airport." But as is the motto of the trip - "Relax! Its all part of the expierience...

It all started innocently enough. Mike was already in a daze which caused him to accidently enter the Woman's bathroom at DCA for a good 10 seconds before he realized his mistake. Tough start... But we'll overcome.

A quick 3 flights, 13 hours and 4000 miles later (oh, and a short shakedown by british customs - 3 checkpoints, 2 xrays and biometrics just to transfer) we arrived in Dublin. It was... As always, raining. 110 KPH winds to go along with it, we headed for Mike's brother's place (Matt) who is studying abroad. His place was supposedly in Dublin, but a 90 minute bus ride and a short cab, we arrived in what felt like Belfast. The first of many excited adventures. A short dinner, some pre-gaming and we were off and running at Temple bar. Guiness flowed like wine, and the night stretched towards 4 AM. Fake identity #1 for the trip - we were minor league baseball players for the buffalo bison, on our way through Dublin to Japan for an exhibition game. The Irish people loved it - a success. A cab ride back to the apartment, 4 am trip to the store to get $68 cent pizza (ie - frisbees). 6 throws off the concrete and 2 minutes in the mircowave and BAM - deluxe pizza. Also, a close call to puking because I laughed so hard at a new youTube finding that ranks up there with Boom goes the Dynamite, and WNBA Live 08. Its called PowerThirst and I highly suggest you watch episodes 1-2. Hilarious. Thanks to Matt's roommates for the 4-5 AM laughs.

Day 2 started out rough with a 130 PM wake-up call and a cold shower. Apparently Ireland is trying to reduce its Carbon footprint by 20% by 2012 and doesn't allow hot water heaters or plastic bags. Dad would be proud. A full day of online trip planning for Croatia and Greece, and we headed downtown for some American football. Of course my Eagles were in the NFC title, and as with Pitt the day before, they lost (thanks for that jinx Evan). Needless to say, my sports teams are taking a hit while I'm away.

In all, we did nothing touristy while in Dublin. We walked the city at night, but having both been to the city before, we decided to take care of the essentials. Sorry for a lame first 2 days... But our 650 AM flight takes us to Prague and our first hostel, where things should get much more interesting... Cheers for now.

sports
You leaving really had a negative impact on our sports teams. I'm still mourning the Eagles loss and still receiving text messages from those bastard Steelers fans. There's always the Phils ;) I look forward to reading these. Glad to hear it's going well, and have fun! Maybe I'll have a job in D.C. by the time you get back. Be careful!
