Angkor Wat
This is the Entrance to the Main (most famous) temple in the area. Today we are going to Angkor which is the temple complex near the city of siem reap, the complex is huge and is much more than you could explore in one day so we have decided to just see the main things. The first temple we are going to visit is Angkor Wat, it is the most famous and the oldest of the temples in the area…it was built to celebrate a Cambodian victory in Delhi and is nearly 900 years old. To explore the area we hired a Tuk Tuk with a driver from the hotel he charged $15 for the full day, once we got to the temple there were lots of girls selling things like hats, water, guide books…I asked to buy a guide book from a girl if she would come and be my guide an hour while we looked around the first temple, she agreed although she said she did not know enough to be a proper guide…my Korean friend bought a Parasol as it was very sunny and hot, he had brought a girl with him which he had rented out the night before. The Temple of Angkor Wat is quite large, it is very
Murt
This is my Friend Murt she became my free 'tour guide' when i bought a guidebook impressive that such a large and ornate building was built in what nowadays seems to be the middle of nowhere i dont know where they got the stone from…it has many statues and carvings, the people who built it were Buddhists. After we had seen the first temple I asked Murt (The ‘guide’ I had hired) if she wanted to come with us to the other temples in the area, she said she had to ask here manager who accepted. We then met up with the Tuk Tuk Driver again and headed for a small driven tour of the outside of some smaller temples and a walking visit to the next best temple (Ta Prohm) it was very impressive although in quite a poor state of repair. After the temple we went for Lunch in the Angkor area, we then headed back to the hotel and Murt was very excited to see photos of my travels as she had never been outside of the town of siem reap/Angkor. Me and Murt agreed to meet up the next day if she could bring a friend…my Korean friend had to travel back to Vietnam early in the morning.
