Some of the Jasper. See the difference between the wet and the dry.
We went to Cape Kernaudren for the night and left early in the morning to get to Marble Bar. We thought we found the shortcut to get to Marble Bar, but not a full tank of petrol, and as we were unsure, thought it would be better to take the long way via the main road. Ended up going into Port Hedland to fuel up and look around. Went to Marble Bar and stayed for the night. In the morning we saw the Jasper which was the Marble the town was named after. It was everywhere. Some nice colours, some bad. We had to throw a bucket of water onto the rock to see the real colour of the Jasper.

It was a very long drive to Newman. It is a mining town. Went to the Visitors Centre and booked a tour of the Mt. Whaleback Open Cut Mine. It is the largest open cut mine in the world. When we came back we had a look at the museum and got to climb on the old machinery and big trucks.

Into Karijini National Park and set up camp at Dales Gorge Campsite. Went down and had a look

at Fern Pool and Fortescue Falls. Fern Pool was cold, but the waterfalls were warm when I swam over to them. Next day went to Weano Gorge and walked to Handrail Pool. We had to wade through water to get there. At the end we had to climb down a rock face to get to it with a handrail with a rope on it - hence the name.

Drove to Tom Price.

I remember!
Looking at your blog has made me remember what it was like. At one time, Marble Bar was the hottest place in Australia! I'm currently in New York, I'm getting over Jetlag since it's a 7 hour time difference from Turky to NY. I keep on waking up at 4:30 unable to get back to sleep. I remember Marble Bar alot, it was brilliant! Bye! From Maddy. PS Keep on having fun!
