Hello once again so what can I tell you?? This maybe be shorter than the last ones as its only Wednesday and have been working all week. I’m mainly putting more pics on of my week so far.
Thank you all for your messages I love them and keep them coming. And also I want to say I’m safe where I am and not near the trouble in Bangkok.
We had a new arrival on Sunday night an American girl who’s spent last few months in Singapore. So there is 4 of us in the house now. I spent the rest of Sunday finishing reading my books; I can see I’m going to get through a lot of books here.
Monday morning I arrived at the girl’s home and as I parked my bike I could see blood all over the pavement, I thought the dogs may have had something yucky to eat?? But when I went into the day home and said hello to the staff, Pi Wee told me where the blood had come from. She was trying to explain to me in a mixture of Thai and English that a puppy had been attacked by
a little crocodile creature. I asked where it was and she showed me. This little puppy was laying on top of old filing cabinet outside on a old towel. It was just lying there looking very flat and as soon as I just touched him slightly he yelped out, a very strange yelp a cross between a duck and a squeaky toy. He had a swollen neck and puncture wounds all around his neck, white gums, rapid breathing and looked like he was dying. I said we have to get him cleaned up and get some fluid down him. She then brought out some stuff to clean him up and syringed some water and milk down him. So I cleaned him up and ended up looking after him all day in-between looking after the girls. I ended up taking him home after work and to be honest I had a feeling I’d be bringing back a dead pup the next day. But it was a challenge I had to succeed (and all that knows me, know I love a challenge and to succeed). It was funny taking him home the 1st day as I had him in my basket (on
happy shopper bike) and gave a backy to the new volunteer so I looked like a proper Thai lol! Every time I went over a bump (which is a lot round here) the pup squealed. Thanks to Kathy (thank you Kathy once again), I got the dosage for antibiotics and aspirin so I could administer to the pup. With electrolytes, milk and sausages (WALLS, all dogs love sausages right??) and TLC and disturbed night sleep, he was still alive in the morning!!! I called him Siren after the house that we are staying in. I looked after him again last night and today at work whilst I was out with the girls some1 took him to a veterinary home (think like the RSPCA). I was a bit upset and missed him but I know he’ll be better off there (well I hope so), and lessens the chance of me wanting to bring him back with me (don’t worry Mum and Dad I know it’s not possible and besides Mim’s would not like it).
Well apart from being a veterinary nurse I have been a physio too this week. Although Monday morning I spent watching a badly dubbed, subtitled DVD
for Step up 2, (dance movie) with 4 CP children and one of the little girls from the home asleep on my lap. We all enjoyed it and laughed at the right times and think they thought I was a bit mad by clapping and cheering at places (you know me saz I watch anything lol!). In the afternoon I managed to do physio on them all and play games. On Tuesday I worked with Amy (the USA physio) it’s really good as we are left on our own and its nice to have support from her. In the afternoon we went to the ward and took about 4 of the girls outside and did physio on the mats. Amy left earlier than me so I spent the last 40mins playing outside with a couple of the girls. I was trying out my Thai on them both (either of them can speak but communicate with grunts and facial expressions) and they were laughing at me big style, so obviously said it wrong lol! I then started to sing the hoacky coaky (bring back good memories Kathy lol!!), its was good physio too and I enjoyed it and I think by
their bigs smiles and hysterical laughing they did too.
This afternoon I went to an international school near by with some of the girls and boys. The school does a programme called community service (probably not a good name to call it lol!) and they interact with the disabled children from the homes and take them around the school and read, write with them and play with them. It is a huge school and very American, I felt like I was walking around an American high school. And the students had American accents. The children loved it which was the main thing and was different for me too.
Well that’s me for now and ended up being bit of big one. I’m off for the w/end and meeting up with the German girl (Masha) for a weekend of trekking. We’re going to the river market, elephant trekking, off to visit and swim in waterfalls, rafting along the river and sleeping on a river house. I’m looking forward to it and having Monday off work. I get a chance to wear my bikini and try and get an even suntan and have a few drinks (which I think I deserve).
I’ll take loads more pics and be giving your more stories to read about.
Take care
Love
