(Sorry, was too tired to take pics today. Plus, didn't really do anything).

Oh man, has today been a freakin’ adventure. So I woke up today at 9:30am thinking checkout was 10am. Luckily, it was 11, so I was able to chill out a little bit. The extra rest was great. I got ready, packed my things, and hung out in the common area for about an hour checking emails and stuff. Since my train was at 1:30pm, I wasn’t in any great hurry.

After about an hour or so, I decided I’d go get something to eat. After that, I set out to search for a post office to send my godmother her candles. Unfortunately, they were closed.

This is where the story gets a little more complicated. On my Eurail pass schedule, it listed the train I needed to get departing from Hlavni Nadrazi station (main station). So I get there about an hour and a half early. I just hung out listening to music, etc. About 30 min. before my train was set to leave, I got really bored and figured I’d get on the train early and choose a prime seat. I walked up to the information booth to ask them what platform I needed to go to. She looked at my ticket and told me that the train was leaving from another station (eventhough it didn’t say it on the ticket, just said Praha).

Damn…….really? After all this time just bored off my ass I gotta rush to HOPE to make a train? So I scurried over to the metro, hopped on, and 20+ minutes later, end up at the correct train station. I run in, run to my train, and hop on (not the easiest feat when you’re carrying a heavy backpack on your back). This train was by far the most ghetto yet, but oh well, at least I was on my way. It had no AC and the seat setup was really weird.

So I look at my schedule…..arrive at 17:03 at Schwandorf station and transfer to Regensburg train departing at 17:09. Cool, should be easy enough…….. guess again. While on my original train, I noticed we came to a complete stop in the middle of nowhere. A freaking tree had fallen on the train tracks and we had to wait till some lumberjack looking dude could chop it into pieces small enough to move. In case you haven’t put 2 and 2 together, I missed my train to Munich. Damnit.

Now, I’m on another train headed to Regensburg where I have to do yet ANOTHER transfer before I FINALLY get to Munich. The train gods are definitely not on my side today. Oh well, all part of the experience/adventure I suppose.

Update: Ok, so the last transfer was pretty simple. It was only two platforms away and I had 20 minutes to spare. After catching the second train, it was a quick hour and half or so until I got to Munich. As soon as I got to Wombat’s City Hostel, I knew I’d love it. It’s definitely a party hostel. It has a lobby area, a common area with bean bags, hammocks, etc. and a bar that had a couple bands playing. They also give you a welcome drink (which I haven’t had yet). When I got to the room, I met Kate, a really nice Australian girl who’s been traveling for 7 months…..7 months! I also met two girls from Taiwan that are in the room as well.

We all kind of hung out for a while. After a bit though, hunger got the best of me since it was about 10:30pm and I hadn’t eaten since 11am or so. I went out, got some grub and came back to the hostel. I wanted to go out seeing as how it’s Saturday and all, but after only sleeping a few hours last night, I think it’d be better if I stayed in tonight and did it big tomorrow.
