So our plans have shifted once again. In Leh we settled into a very nice guest house, were reading luxuriously, enjoying the view when suddenly the reality of being at 11,500 ft suddenly struck. Jason suffered first but the clouds of suffering cleared the next morning for him. I on the other hand had three lovely days of hanging my head in agony out of the window and nibbling on what I could. The window was very nice. I could look over the garden, see the brook, watch all of the interesting birds of ladakh but nonetheless it wasn't so good with an ill tummy and an aching head ache. Finally at 5 am on the fourth day of being sick we decided to leave. I was losing too much weight so we were forced to descend. The owner of the guest house sent us off with mind tea and off we went on a two day journey to Manali in the state of Himachal Pradesh. What a ride!!!! Along an impossible road we passed cold clear rivers, honked at herds of goats, and all around us rose the stunning mountains of Ladakh!! There is nothing like it. We climed until we hit 17,000ft at Tanglangla pass (the second highest motorable pass in the world). It was marked by a pile of stones decorated furiously by prayer flags. Down we then plunged into the desert lands which released eventually into the most beautiful rolling green hills covered in local wildflowers and scattered with little streams. The journey took two days to reach Manali, where we are currently staying in a room with a view of the wooded mountains with huge waterfalls casading in their many crevaces. Acha! Much Love!!!
