Anna, Mieke, Meg (volunteers at Royal Seed) and myself travelled to Takoradi (south west of Ghana) by tro tro for 4 hours. We booked a room at Green Turtle Lodge for the weekend, which came to a bargain of 10Ghana cedis a night at student rate!! The idealic place is pretty much isolated on the beach with no mobile reception. There were a number of red thatched huts with small solar panels for accomodation, as well as tents at a cheaper price. Not only did the huts make the place feel likle an exotic holiday, but the coconut trees, bright flowers and birds which I rarely see here in Ghana. Apart from the young English couple with their baby and their cool friend, all the workers are Ghanian 😊 The money Green Turtle Lodge earns is divided fairly between all the workers and the community (ECO tourism!). They are also environmentally conscious, keeping the area clean, protecting the turtles during the egg laying season (our winter) and providing self composting toilets, which reminded me of Australia. There were only white people staying there! Which I guess wasn't surprising, but it felt wierd to be aming so many again.

visited the famous Nzulezo stilt village, the only one of it's kind in Ghana. It took ages to travel there though, and quite expensive too (by taxi)! We drove through rainforests and rows of rubber trees, passing a couple of rubber factories. From a small village I payed an entrance fee to visit Nzulezo and a guide to take me there by canoe. That took another couple hours, there and back, but the lakes were beautiful and rowing through a two small jungles was exciting! We finally arrived at the small village ontop of a big lake. there are only 400 people living there and they are probably used to white people more than anyone in Ghana! I realised they receive a lot of money every week from their visitors, yet they still asked for donations! I found the stilt village not to be as great as I thought it would be. I enjoyed the journey to Nzulezo much more.

The 4 of us decided to stay another night, as it had been raining soo much on Saturday at Green Turtle Lodge. However Sunday was hot and sunny :D The whole day we were sunbathing and swimming. The food

was great there and the atmosphere was so friendly and chilled out. It was nice talking to some of the other volunteers too 😊

Now I'm leaving Royal Seed (which I will write more about when I am home). I am going to travel with a friend or two in my last week to North of Ghana, Tamale.

This is my favorite hotel in all of Ghana. It is beautiful and simple and such an amazing place to relax.
