photos! I really enjoyed staying with you too :D You have beautiful here! Could you send me the ones of myself? As I can't successfully copy them from the site, they are all copyright (which is a good thing really because it means no one can steal our photos). Love you lots, your big sister xxx
Gloria Petyarre My sharing about Aboriginal Art is:
Aboriginal art shows the oldest living art tradition in the world, with paintings in rock shelters dating back over 20,000 years.
The art includes naturalistic paintings of human, plant and animals.
All the paintings are demonstrating the experimental representations of their heritage.
And that art also illuminates the human civilization.
Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe you have finished it! Any ideas for your personal project? Please put up photos of the event, it sounds really interesting! Hope you got or will go to the Beach sometime soon :) and that we will speak soon too xxx
Beautiful sunset!! Wish I could join in with the party :P i hope Kathelijna is well :) Speak soon when I have internet at home again and finished my dissertation!! xxxx
Nice photo of you and Joke :) say hello to the Dijkstra family from me!!
Hannah was telling me funny things she has done to strangers like saying 'boo' when someone is walking past and staring at their phone, or simply going up to someone and asking them where they got their shoes/bag/coat from cos she likes it. Made me think of interactive theatre again. She does surprising interaction with strangers - communicating with people in ways they do not expect. Like ask the audience questions. I guess comedians do that too.
Anyway, I hope everyone gains more confidence to be flexible and self-expressive! Have fun xxx
Bloomen - bloomers??? Now that make me laugh. Doyou remember Guernsey grandma teasing me in the past with Bloomers?
It is Bloemen. Een Bloem - veel bloemen! And to make it complicated: it is also flour, like tarwebloem is wheat flour and ofcourse flour sounds like flower, so we are back to the bloemen. Tulips perhaps? Double Dutch will do! love mum x
Aw really? haha! The bikes can be from 35 euros, but more likely around 75/85 and then in the 100s and 300s. These tend to be quite retro, these are not the proper oma fiets hey! more like my blue raleigh at home :) most bikes look like they have hand brakes and 3 gears, but Joke's now lending me her oma fiets- no gears and back pedal brakes, can't wait! x
cultural fun wow! that day sounds amazing, especially meeting soo many International Students :D I'm getting more and more of jealous of you Kiama :p How much are the second hand bikes?
Enjoy Ron's gig this evening and keep having fun there in the Netherlands xXx
Definately agree with boosting people's confidence than making them angry! People need more positivity in their lives, not negativity (people give that to themselves anyway).
Lol I was never an English chips person. Dutch, Belgian and French chips all the way :P

so mother - so daughter I am so sorry I didn't prepare you for this easy to make mistake. Living now for almost 17 year in England I still need to pause and think when someone arrange a time of half 2 or whatever as I am still thinking it means half past the hour instead of before the hour. My fortune living here is I will be never too late! Your presentation sounds interesting and I glad it went well. love mum x
I felt awful about that because it was all brand new and I didn't own the place!
hello from norwich Hello Kiama
This is Kelly here - I am lecturing on the Visual Studies course and covering some of Kimberley's role whilst she is on maternity leave. She mentioned you are on Eramus. Sounds like you are having exciting adventures! The new brief you have sounds intriguing. I think that is a good idea to settle into the project before thinking about ways of creating a new identity for yourself...maybe you can think of ways of representing an alternative persona without having to act yourself? Creating a fictional documentary, hiring an actor to act on your behalf etc etc - lots of possibilities! Keep up with the blog so we can follow your activities. And remember if you need to get in touch about anything you can email me, Peter or Paul at nuca too.
Have fun
Kelly
Ja mama, het biologische eetwinkel zit op Ginnekerweg- but not on a corner as far as I remember. En ik heb geen cafe boven gezien... maar misschien is het veranderd. I'm sure I'll lose and find myself a lot here too! Liefs jou dochter x
Dank je wel Simi! Deze week is nog steets een betje still omdat ik neemand ken. Maar Breda is een echt moie stad! Wat ben jij aant onderzoeken voor jou studie in toerisme?
memories I enjoy reading your blog Kiama. It's funny to think that one of my daughters is temporary living in the place I lived in for 12 years. The place I loved so much. The fun and the drama's - relationships, losing and finding myself. Basically it was all about growing up there for me and your blog generates lots of memories for me.
I wonder if the biologische eetwinkel is the one I used to do my shopping in. Was it on the corner of the Baronielaan and the Ginnekenstraat? And did it have a vegetarian cafe up stairs?
love, mum x
Studying in Breda Hello! I was looking for travel blogs for my studies and found your blog by coincident. I am studying tourism as well here in Breda at the NHTV. It is funny to see how foreigners describe Dutch people and about their first experiences here. To give an answer on your questions it is indeed true that most of the Dutch students go home during the weekends. This is very unfortunate for the ones who stay because in the beginning it can be very boring in Breda if you don't know many people. I think you might be shocked when you notice the working attitude here when it comes to studying. Dutch are usually pretty lazy and are striving for a 5.5 and not for the full 10 points they can get for an assignment. In my studies I notice that foreign students from Germany and France usually get way higher marks because their attitude is much better. I can only say this for my own studies of course but keep in mind that Breda is a good city to party! Hope you will have a lot of fun here during your exchange ;)
hi there, i volunteered at this orphanage in august 2007 for a month and when i returned to england i fund raised £1000 for them. i have been told by naomi how the money was spent, but it is nice to see pictures, thanks x
Thank you! Thanks for your comment! I am so happy Royal Seed is receiving more help :) They really do need it. I am sorry I did not reply sooner, as I do not check this site very often (at least not recently). How are the children? It has been one year since I have been there and I still think of them all! I hope you are well and enjoying yourself there!!
Wow! It is so amazing to see these pictures and read your descriptions of the Royal Seed home. I will be volunteering here from April-June and I now have more of an idea of what to expect! I am doing a small fundraiser at my old high school and intend to buy necessities for the kids while I'm in Ghana, to keep my bags light and support their economy. If you have any advice or anything I'd love to hear it, just send me an email! :) thanks, Erika
hi Ilana!
liefs, Fleur
