I was going to get Darren to write this blog (being the resident expert in Roman History) but he reneged when I said it had to be short and sweet. He said he wouldn’t be able to write anything without explaining the full story (‘lord help us all’ if we have a ‘blog and grog’ night, Rome could take hours).
We thought we’d spend the morning at the ruins of the Roman Forum then wander Rome after lunch. Not to be. My tummy was rumbling so we headed for the exit only to discover we’d only seen ½ of it. The ruins of the Roman Forum are over a huge area, at least 1 ½ km sq just for the area that is accessible. So we went back after lunch. But I have to say it was very interesting, especially having my own private tour guide.
After dinner we took a stroll to our local Piazza, a crowd gathers there every night for ‘refreshments’. It feels like New Years eve. So we joined in with a bottle of Campari & soda and imagined you guys from first point were with us.
