Got to Sydney last Wednesday after a long journey. We flew from Osaka, which has a airport out in the middle of the ocean. Thank god we took off as I didn't want to end up in the sea. The airport shakes as you sit waiting for your plane. The air hostess wear the most beautiful traditional uniforms. The flight was full from Japan to Singapore, which took a little over 6 hours. We flew over the Philippines which made the flight a bit bumpy as they had tropical storms at the time. When we arrived in Singapore we had an hour or so to wait for our connecting flight. We flew to Australia in a Boeing 747. It was practically empty. There was only about 150 people on the plane at most, which meant we could have as many rows to ourselves to stretch out. Now that would be a different story come November and December.

On our arrival in Sydney we checked into our accommodation in Surrey Hills. Surrey hills is a very bohemian area of Sydney. We are 10 minutes walk from Darling Harbour and another 20 minutes walk to the Opera House and The Harbour bridge. Perfect location yet again.

What can I say about Sydney. It is very multicultural but you do not see many Aborigines.

We have been to see the Opera House, The Harbour Bridge, Manly Beach by ferry and Bondi beach by train and bus. It is easy enough to get around here.

There is an amazing cliff top walk between Bondi Beach and Coogee beach. Coogee is the lesser known sister of Bondi and I think is far nicer. If you get the chance to visit Sydney do not miss this walk, as you get to see some really hidden beaches including Gordons Bay and Bronte Beach. We did the walk today. It was 19 degrees C here today and it's winter!!! That is an Irish summers day.

We have also eaten Skippy, well a Kangaroo not sure if it was Skip. It was nice, very rare.

One more day in Sydney and the we head up the east coast by coach. The tour trips are too expensive to do but I think we will get to see the sites all the same.
