Edit Blog Post
This is the last blog from Auckland, thought we would breifly write something and add a few more pictures before we leave on tuesday morning for the tropical sands of Fiji!!! As you know we couldn't stay in Hamilton so got to the biggest city earlier than anticipated. We have viewed most of the sites already. It is a cross between Sydney and Brisbane. We are staying on the 'K' road which is the 'trendy'/'quirky' part of the city where they have trannies walking about at night time. (We haven't seen any yet- it's just what we have heard!) The city itself appears to be completely surrounded by steep hills. So the walk back from the harbour or supermarkets everyday is very tiring. (But Jon hopes it will make his girly calves big!) There are nice suburbs in Auckland which are only a bus ride away to help people escape the hustle and bustle of the city. We went to Parnell the other day which was inundated with coffee shops, not that either of us were complaining. Our favourite past time is to drink coffee and play cards!!! We visited the Auckland museum which was extremely educational. The link bus is
very good for the city as it helps you get round the sights cheapily, however if you get on it the wrong way, (as we did the other day) you find yourself sitting on a bus for about an hour.
After discovering the city we did take the trip back to Hamilton to watch the cricket for the fourth day of the first test. And we are so happy we chose that day to go. The weather was amazing, being 24 degrees at ten in the morning! It started off very quietly and not very inspiring for the English fans when we were all out. However the beers rolled down the barmy army's necks and when Sidebottom came into bowl the party started. Some great banter and at last some good English cricket resulted in a good day out. However the score today does not look too inspiring!
So that is the end of the New Zealand experience which we both enjoyed very much. Amazing views everyday whether it is a mountain, a lake or a sky tower! We have met and stayed with some nice people that hopefully can put us up again in the future if we come
back!
Hope the party was good for all the Duncan/Bailey/Pysden/Marsh family.
Only two more weeks till we see you in LA/LV Hannah, I know you're excited!
lots of love h and j xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
