Frenchy
Katy sitting next to her new best friend.... Having said a tearful goodbye, we were on our own, straight from the off Greg did a Greg and got "randomly" selected for a full body search. However much to Gregs jubilations this search did not include any rubber gloves. A quick scan and queue hop, left Greg on his own for the first time leading to a little panic.
Our Plane was due to leave at 9.45pm after a super fast check in we boarded the plane, makes a change from rubb/plastic seats filled with pasty white brits on route to destroy their liver and scald their skin going a tasty shade of pink.......So before boarding the plane we went to Pret to buy some food cos you know Greg can always eat, anywho some silly old lady decided she would queue jump...hmmm rudeness is not a favourite thing of mine and Katys, plus she was ancient but hey rise above it. Half an hour later waiting to board the plane the damn coffin dodger tries to push in again. True to form Katy used her "I dont think so body language" anyway we get on the plane and its all hunky, have loads of free goodies on our seats.
Kho san road
Greg strutting his stuff down the street.... Result. Bad things happen in threes right?? Strike Three. Old silver hair woman (think shes French) takes a pew next to Katy Hahahahahahaha, OMG very amusing facial expressions exhanged between the two of us.
Plane ride was very nice, suprised how easy immigration was, our bags were first off, all going well, then we were greeted with a wall of placards and Thai faces, quick scan soon found a little smiley man holding up Katys name, and he turned out to be super helpful. Realised as soon as we left the air conditioned airport that hoodies and combats were not the way forward, needless to say at the end of our hour journey we were sitting in a pool of out own sweat. HOT!
Hotel is all good, after seeing our porter wondering around our room, looking as if he'd lost his Tuk Tuk we realised maybe, just maybe, he was looking for his tip. We sent him on his merry way with 100 baht (1.78 pounds).
Dumped our backs, wacked on our flip flops and headed out. Made our way to the recommended "safe" crossing areas, however after a 10 minute wait we realised no one would let us
Free shizzle
Greg sporting his free plane stuff..... go, so we made a sharp dash for it. Found Koh San Road, just realised it was actually just a road, after wondering aimlessly up and down the street looking like the two most blatent first time travellers, we settled into some red plastic chairs to sip a cool beer. After 2 beers we were giggling like hammered school children and though the only logical next step would be for Greg to lose his virginity - of the tattoo kind. Soon found our selves in a small glass room and Greg successfully got a real tattoo (star on foot). Hours later, Katy decided to share that there was a strong possibility that the tattoist enjoyed needles of another kind, due to the marks all over his arms...........Feeling slightly more confident after our 2 beers, we tackled the 10 lanes of traffic with ease.
Greg awoke to what he thought was a Faithless tune, however it was Katy saying "I can't get no sleep"......playing on the net is always nice at 3 in the morning.
Took our first Tuk Tuk ride, where Katy now as Asthma and Greg has developed Bronchitus, to a tourist information centre where we have booked our
Big boy beers....
Hammered after two big boy beers..... first trip/trek starting with a 700 mile overnight train journey. You may not get our next blog for a bit as there is a strong possibility, that with Gregs sense of direction, we may get lost in the mountains......

First steps (tattoo'd)
Hi Guys Glad to hear your first steps on your journey were not too bad, excluding the silver haired gnomie! Try not to get lost in the mountains. We did that in Wales and it wasn't much fun! I think the weather will be better than Wales but it could be a lot more desolate. Keep on Treckin' Love Dad
