Well what a start to my overseas experience I had. First stop outside N.Z. was Bangkok airport where I had my passport confiscated by an over zealous Border control officer. Haha!
I went through immigration to access left baggage so I could deposit my laptop. Then I had trouble returning so soon after leaving. I got there eventually to a welcoming steel bench for a bed. With only 2-3 hours sleep and 6 more lost through time zones within 33 you can probably imagine I was well ready for a snooze upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A big dinner out for two cost about $NZ50 lastnight. That's with plenty of quality beers too. I say plenty because with temperatures peaking just below 40 during the day and rarely falling below 30 during the evening we are thirsty.

The footpaths are finished in tidy ceramic tiling, but an occasional whiff of the sewer vents every few meters down the street soon remind you that a city this big can't really be clean.
You can't walk down the city streets after nightfall without being offered a "young lady" by some weedy guy every now and then. Which is a shame, but at least the girls themselves are hidden
away from sight.

I'm not venturing too far from my guest house as my foot is giving me grief just now. But hopefully I'll be up for some day walks in a national park later on in the week or the next.
Haydn

This part by Chris,

Went to the markets the past few days, pretty interesting, especially for Haydn I think, I was a bit used to it as it reminded me a lot of dubai, but the Dubai markets cant match the food on offer here though.

We went to a nice little outdoor restaurant the other night and then to a reggae bar last night, which seemed to be a bit of a westerners hangout, its our last night in Kuala Lumpur tonight then we are off on the bus (or bas as its written over here) to go look at the countryside, so we will keep you posted !!!!
