Half way up a windy mountain
Windy as in many turns in the road that is... not windy as in ... um... windy So... Yet another morning of pain.
I don't think I have ever loved water quite so much... water, coffee, orange juice, apple juice, apfelschules... if it was liquid, I was so into it. Oh... but no champagne... I drew the liquid acceptance line there.
Christine and her friends had organised a brunch over at Anna's house since all her 'gang' - I guess - were home for the holidays. There was so much food, so much liquid!! Stuey and I tried our first Weisswurst - this breakfast sausage which is white and you eat it with bretzeln and a sweet mustard. It has a skin which you have to peel off... I liked it. Apparently there is a rule about not eating it after midday - but I think that was before the age of preservatives.
But after the night before, I just sat and ate what was put in front of me... and giggled. I don't think I've been that drunk since drinking cointreau at Peter Shepards house with Costa and Ian after winning Gearin's trivia for the first time EVER!!! (Ian - like seriously, it was awesome!! Obviously not as awesome as that night coz you
Christine and I
Possibly in austria - not far off anyway weren't there, but the morning after was just as giggly),
Hey - as a little aside, I just booked a flight back from the UK for 10pounds all inclusive - sweet! Now I just have to figure out when I can get over to the UK...
But I digress... Where was I? Oh yes, feeling giggly and thirsty. So we all sat for many a good laugh at Anna's house. I really like Christine's friends - like three of them are preggers at the moment, so Christine gets to be the lush and drink while all the others get to drink alcohol free bubbly.
After we had all eaten as much as humanly possible there was still soooo much food left over. Admittedly Stuart and Warren were performing a little below par that day due to their actions the previous night... but there was still a heap - we should have all hung our heads in shame.
In the afternoon (yes, it was about 1 by the time we finished brunch - awesome! I love a lazy meal) we drove off in search of the castles of Konig Ludwig of Bavaria. According to wikipedia, he is
Three Muskateers
inside the castle called the fairy-tale king, presumably because he built fairy-tale castles... I prefer to refer to him as the Crazay King... as he was ... crazy.
Unfortunately for my stomach contents, Warren was driving... and he was driving through Austria to get to Fussen... and Austria is a slightly mountainous country... so crap. On what must have been a beautiful drive - must - is, I do remember loving it 18 months ago when we last visited the castles - I simply sat in the back mumbling to myself with my eyes closed. Hopefully Christine thought that I was just weird and not too crazy. Seriously it is a gorgeous drive.
Regular readers of my blogs, notably the blogs that Kristy and I wrote on our last world tour, may be familiar with our previous trip to see the castles. They are near a town called Fussen, and the most famous one, Schloss Neuschwanstein, was the basis of the design for the Disneyland castle. Last year though we just looked at the castles and the crowds from far below - this time it was time for a change!!
And crap it was a cold day to be there!
me
inside the castle, with a hand reaching out to pick my nose I think... There is this lake, not the one right near the castles, but a little away from Fussen, which is even bigger than the Alpsee, but it was totally frozen over too! Absolutely MASSIVE!!
Anyway, the whole castle area reeked like Anaheim did to me as a 12 year old - it reeked of tourists... After going nearly a month only hearing maybe one or two aussie accents, suddenly I was inundated - Aussies, Sepos... lots of Sepos... chubby ones who sat in the back of horse-drawn carriages being heaved up the hill past all the walking masses.
Yet not even the ever presence of tourists could make the whole area any less cooler or any less beautiful! I swear, I just feel like I am Narnia the whole time... mainly the bit where Santa Claus comes along on his sled... I kept mentioning this, but then I would remember (unfortunately) that I had recently seen the Robot Chicken 2007 Christmas Special, and I would fall into fits of giggles... Cameron - you know what I'm talking about!! Anyone interested - watch it
here.
ooh - linking within blog - a new skill point to me!!
They've
Dog - cute - tied up
People had bothered to walk up the hill with their dog and then just tied him and and left him to stare into the crowd searching constantly for his owners... very cute, but very dodgy got a pretty good thing going, these cheeky Germans... see down at the bottom of the climb they sell tickets to see the castle, but when you get up there, you can walk all around the outside (which is stunningly gorgeous) you just have to have this ticket to leave the beauty of nature and actually enter the castle, giving you the privilege of touring through estate rooms, while people are playing in the snow outside...
anyway, that was us - playing in the snow. They had closed off the path around to the back of the castle because there was a lot of snow around, but that didn't stop us... no no no, (of course it didn't stop anyone else either, we were hardly being bad-ass). We walked through narnia some more and eventually got to the bridge...
Oh my god - it's just... I am wordless. So much of this trip, so many experiences are catching up with me. I have seen so much beauty, had such a good time, even as I write this now, racking my brain trying to figure out how to describe this, I am more worried that if I can't describe
Look I have three heads
and two of them have beards this, then how the HELL am I gonna describe the things that I have seen since the castle.
Oh - look at the photos - they will pale in comparison to the real thing, but so will my words - so meh!
Speaking of wordless - on the walk down we stopped and bought some quarkballs which had come fresh out of the oil. Oh my god. I had tried them at the Christmas markets (oh so long ago now) and they were awesome, but these balls... THESE balls. Well... as Stuart would say - I like your balls good sir!
We drove home, and we were making moves and starting grooves before they knew we were gone... or maybe not, maybe that is just a line from a crappy song... but WHICH crappy song? Anyone?
Sorry, I just like to ask questions, gauge how many people actually read this... coz I don't - obviously I read my own, and I read Patty's notes... and I TRY to read other blogs, but I ... often fail. so no pressure, no judgment, just keeping things nice and interactive. hmmm who knew that judgment only had one e...
Cool Photo
Warren took this - I think it is cool That night we headed back out to Globus... and I was soooo hungry! I ate a whole Seele, on my own! I can't believe I ate the whole thing... hehe. I am so having a Seele party at my house when I get back - everyone's so invited - it rocks the hizzle!
the New Year's Band stopped by, and Warren was like 'hide me!!' hehe. They walked in, looked around the full pub and it was like they have some sort of radar - right away they were all 'Warren!!'. Classic!
Drinks... cocktails... I don't know about riding in cars with boys, but attempting to stand your own whilst sitting around a table in a bar with boys is no easy feat... they should make a movie about that. Well, they did make the Accused I guess...
Too far?
anyway, boys rule, girls drool. I wander if Will would have done any better...
ps - Many photos today - more still at my picasa album... feel free to browse by clicking
here and again! - can you feel that huh?

Wunderschoen!
We really need to make it back over there for winter. The scenes looking back at Neuschwanstein castle from that bridge were just amazing. You are having such fantastic weather and seeing soooo much Sus! Good on ya. I am LOVING reading your blogs - very entertaining!
