Today was a fun day! We spent the afternoon at a fair in Buckingham with our house mates and another friend, Melissa. We left Aylesbury at 2:30 pm and spent a few hours at the fair. We haven't been to a fair in ages! It was fun just walking around, going on rides, eating bad-for-you foods and playing games. There are a few standard rules when you go to a fair: go on rides that make you feel sick, play games where you get ripped off by carnies and buy cotton candy! Will, Melissa, Ebony and Damien went on this crazy ride that went REALLY high into the air and upside down...we can't think of what the name of it was...I (Bri) was the official bag-holder for that ride! I finally decided to go on a ride. I'm glad I didn't see the ride in motion before we went on...it was so scary and I never would have gone on if I had seen it beforehand! My head was spinning after we got off. Will had to help me walk straight! After that ride we grabbed a small bite to eat and then Will and I went rock climbing. We tried
climbing the hardest two walls that were there. In the end, Will was a much better rock climber! He made it to the top of his wall, but I didn't quite make it. It was a hard wall to climb and I made it 3/4 of the way and then finally fell when I couldn't get a good grip on the next rock. We ran into some of our students at the fair (since the school we teach at is also in Buckingham). So, we had a mini audience cheering us on while we climbed the wall. It was fun...they were impressed with how well we did! We heard a lot of "Hi Miss!" and "Hi Sir!" as we walked by our students and stopped to chat a bit. Before we left we made sure to play a couple of games. We saw "The Annoying Thing" (a blue crazy frog stuffed animal) as a prize at a lot of the games. It reminded me of home and friends so Will went and played a game and won a small one for me. Then, Melissa, Ebony and I played a darts game and each won a cute lion. Will and I
named ours Milo. Once we got back from Buckingham we went and picked up a couple of pizzas and headed home to watch the rugby World Cup semi-finals between France and England. Rugby is a fun sport to watch! We were cheering for France, but England pulled ahead for the win in the second half. Rugby is much more exciting to watch than football!
Last week was Thanksgiving for all of you at home. We were missing home quite a bit, so we decided to make our own Thanksgiving feast. Will and I cooked a big turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, broccoli, deviled eggs and our house mate Damien used his family recipe for stuffing which we put inside the turkey. We cheated and bought an apple pie from the grocery store (we didn't have the time or patience to bake one from scratch). We had a bottle of white wine and we bought some fresh flowers to put on the table. It was a lovely meal!
By this time next weekend we will be in Spain! Our plane leaves next Saturday morning at 8:35 am. Tonight we booked our transportation to the airport. We arranged to have a car
come and pick us up at 5:15 am and drive us to Heathrow airport in London. Barcelona here we come!
Here are a few more "English" words to add to our ever expanding list: dinner time = tea time, Kellogg's Frosted Flakes = Kellogg's Frosties. Instead of temperature settings for oven cooking instructions, there are gas mark settings for gas appliances (eg. gas mark 6). The time of day is said in a different way: example - 6:30 (six thirty) and 7:30 (seven thirty) are said as "half six" and "half seven."
That's all for this week. We will put up another post in two weeks once we get back from Barcelona!

Just back from Barbados, baby. Love the blog - keep up the good work as it makes us all feel in touch. Picked up a little something for you and Will while we were in Barbados so I'll mail it off to you. Looking forward to your update on Spain. Love you both!
