Death road - bike rideDeath road - bike rideDeath road - bike ride

With Treasa and James in La Cumbre - 4700 above sea level, just before setting off down the so called: the world´s most dangerous road
In La Paz I met Treasa and James, an Irish couple that I already knew from Puno. I decided to join them for the 64km bike ride from La Cumbre (4700m) to Coroico (1755m) - on the most dangerous road in the world. It was downhill and of course speeding was the most fun....
crazy cyclists do get killed there!
(you can find some detailed description on Treasa's and James' blog, see entry no 18 The death road & the world´s highest capital)

La Paz - is awfully polluted and because of the high altitude (3600m) visitors suffer very often from cough and chest problems (as i´ve heard only loaded gas is used in here). But in comparison to Lima there is no fog and the setting is much nicer and you actually get to see the blue sky. I also feel much safer here.

Bolivia is cheap, much cheaper than Brasil and also cheaper than Peru. I´ve been paying an equivalent of 1 British pound or max a couple for my accomodation, a good meal costs very often 1 pound (of course all gringoed places are much more expensive). The best deal for food is set lunch (in places where locals eat), where you get 3course meal for...0.70pound!
Well, I decided to "treat" myslelf to a visit at a haidresser´s and to "splash out" on a pair of fancy spectacles :-)

(P.S. after having visited more places i must admit it is not that cheap everywhere in Bolivia)
