...and here it is! I arrived in Munich yesterday (with Busabout for the last time!) and did a bit of sightseeing (churches, buskers and my new favourite- fountains). Sadly, I had to say goodbye to my singing seagull friend this morning, and then I did a walking tour (because it was free and left from the hostel!) Munich is quite interesting, and not only because of the beer and the naked people in the park. There are a lot of memorials around, but they are mostly quite subtle, like plaques on the ground. Most of it was destroyed in the war and rebuilt, but in some places, like the parliament building, little bits of the original damaged buildings have been left as a memorial, and outside the parliament building there is a circle of trees around what was a bomb crater. In the English Garden there is a permanent wave on the river and there were loads of people surfing there which was quite random!

I am now armed with an Inter Rail ticket, and ready to take on the trains of Europe! The plan is to go back to Austria tomorrow, spend a few days in Innsbruck, then go to Switzerland for a bit, and then straight up to Scandinavia without stopping ín Germany on the way. And I won´t keep you waiting a week til my next update again, I promise! Ciao!

Hey Jess, glad to see you went Busabouting! I take it you stayed at Wombats? Really nice hostel and the tourguide we had was really odd... but the MayPole stories were very funny... If you go to Switzerland take yourself to Lauterbrunen... its the best place Ever and there's a massive campsite which is surprisingly good and cheap there... from there you can paraglide, raft, canyon, skydive, walk, go up a mountain train (pricey but amazing views on the glacier) etc. Have a great time.
