I've been wanting to refer to a map so you all know what I'm talking about so... I've put red boxes around Sydney, Cairns, Brisbane, Melbourne and Ballarat (where I'm going on Monday). And Also Alice Springs and Darwin where I should be going in Feb/March. This is not in chronological order!! 1- Cape York Peninsula- all the places I went to on my Cape York trip are along the main road up there, or on the east coast, or north of the road. 2- Cape Trib...the Bloomfield Track aka most beautiful drive I've ever been on, goes 100 km north to Cooktown along the coast from there, the festival I went to in September was along there. 3- Tip of Cape York, Bamaga, Sesia (where we camped up there) 4- Atherton Tablelands- where I worked ... read more

Firstly...photos are finally up...tomorrow/the next day/in a week...it's all the same to me! Hope you all had a great Christmas, I did! I'm in Bunyip, east of Melbourne, it's a little country town- lots of farms, snakes and tractors! Went surfing on Phillip Island a couple of times with Amy and her cousin, but I didn't even get in the water the second time cos it was FREEEEEZING!! Even when the weather is warm here the sea is cold, it's very different from Queensland! But we had sun and warm weather for Christmas, and it was very strange having a BBQ on Christmas Eve and sitting outside on Christmas morning! Spent Christmas with one side of the family and Boxing Day with the other. Apart from that...have been helping out with Christmas preparations, hanging out with ... read more

I arrived in Melbourne last week and went straight to Amy's parents' house, but more about that later...the next day it was back to Melbourne. I was pretty freaked out to be in a city...apart from my one night in Brisbane the last city I was in was Sydney, 5 1/2 months ago!! (No, Cairns is not a city!) So I didn't really appreciate it as much as I could have done...although I had the best hot chocolate EVER! That night we went to Amy's welcome home/housewarming party at her new house in Toorac in the city- had a BBQ and went out. I will be persevering with Melbourne at a later date! ... read more

After my awesome last morning on the Sunshine Coast, at Eumundi Markets, I went to Brisbane and stayed the night there, before getting on a BUS (!!) to Melbourne the next morning! My friend Jackie showed me around a bit, so I've got some photos for you...... read more

I can't believe Eumundi, one of my favourite places isn't on the locations list on here! The markets there are apparently the biggest in Australia! They are pretty big... Went there a few times (mainly for the free food samples!) I spent waaaaay too much money the first time on clothes!! And ginger fudge...The original markets were all products made/grown by the stallholders. There's loads of clothes, food (FREE SAMPLES, did I mention?!) and random hippyish stuff! And some good music around too. On my last day, a few of us from the hostel hired a car and went there which was a really good way to say goodbye to the sunshine coast. It was hard to leave Cotton Tree Backpackers though, it was such a family there and I had been living there for 2 ... read more

We did a trip to Noosa National Park one day, to go surfing, but it wasn't very good surf so we just went for a walk and a swim. The beaches there are beautiful and much quieter than Maroochydore- no lifesavers and kids and surf clubs there! Yeh again...not much to say except the photos that will be added tomorrow...... read more

Well I had to put the location here as Coolum Beach beacuse Mount Coolum isn't on the list (did go to Coolum Beach once though!) and there will be a lot of photos from Mount Coolum although not much writing. We went to the top (it's not very high!) at sunrise and sunset and it was beauuuuuuutiful!... read more

After the Glasshouse Mountains, Pip and I went to Maleny and went to Kondalilla Falls, which was absolutely beautiful and so much fun for climbing! We went again a few weeks ago with Amy and had such a great day. Photos will explain this better anyway... Maleny is a cool little hippy town, we saw some good and not-so-good live music there! The hinterland towns are a lot quieter than the coast, but the disadvantage is that the sea isn't there...... read more

December 19th 2008

On my first day in Maroochydore, I went to the Glasshouse Mountains with Amy's friend Pip. It was awesome because I was so freaked out by being in a town again! We went to Mount Ngungun, the view from the top was beautiful. It's really flat farmland and the mountains seem to have been dropped from the sky! Or this (copied from the internet): "Tibrogargan was the father of all the tribes and Beerwah was his wife, and they had many children. Coonowrin, the eldest; the twins, Tunbubudla; Miketeebumulgrai; Elimbah whose shoulders were bent because she carried many cares; the little one called Round because she was so fat and small; and the one called Wild Horse since he always strayed away from the others to paddle out to sea. (Ngungun, Beerburrum and Coochin do not ... read more
