"assalum alikum assalamu alikum.. " haha this is the music that plays here right now. Last night i arrived here in Jordan but before writing about my time here i have to catch up a bit with the past days when i didnt get the time to write...
Went snorkelling near dahab at a place called "the blue hole" it was AMAZING!!
Started the snorkelling from the coast and swam along the reef to the outer edge. On the right side it was all BLUE BLUE BLUE while on the other side you could see intact corals populated by al sorts of fishes in all colors and color combinations.. rainbow colors, blue, red, blue-yellow, green, white, black. All the time I felt like saying again and again "thank you jehovah for creating all this"
The next day at 10.00am a taxi picked me up for a one hour ride to nuweiba a coastal town at the red sea from where i was going to catch a boat to Aqaba/Jordan. The taxi driver dropped me at the port office where i joined a queue of about 40 males, most of them dressed like in biblical times. I felt a bit weird between them all but they just gave me some strange looks until someone advised me that this queue was for egyptians only (i couldnt know as all writings were in arabic) So i moved on to anotehr counter where i decided to get the fast ferry for 60US dollar in order to b in jordan until 2 or 2:30(an unrealistic idea as i found out later..). Entered the customs hall where the police officers always put me in the front of a queue so i wouldnt have to stand there for hours. (isnt this sweet? :o) )
After all this I ended up in a big hall where i was lucky to meet a couple from new zealand and 2 english girls. We had a chat and waited.... and waited... waited.... I was told the ferry would depart at 1:30, they were told it would leave at 2:00, when we asked someone else we were informed that the ferry would leave at 3:00.... It turned 2... nothing happened.... 3... still nothing happened... at 4 we were finally called to enter the ferry (it sounded like the guy who made the call out sweared at everybody, he sounded soo angry lol.. in fact it was just the passionate nature of arabic men, they r very expressive and loud lol). Not that I understood any of the call out as it was in arabic. Fortunately some people around us translated and told us where we had to go. On the ferry we had to join a looong queue and once we sat down on our seats inside the ferry it was 5:00... and we waited again.. Announcements were made in arabic and neitehr the kiwis nor me understood anything. At 6:30 the ferry finally moved.... One hour later we arrived in aqaba/Jordan and waited.... Many announcements were made, people had shrill discussions. Suddenly someone opened a door and let some of us into anotehr department and said something in arabic. We waited for another 15 minutes. People from the other department were banging on the doors. Some aggressive custom-officials insisted on getting our passports and disappeared. Finallt after 20 more minutes we were asked to leave the ferry. The kiwis were lucky to have their pick up already arranged, their tourguide waited in the arrival hall. The english girls and me didnt know what was going on and what was going to happen now. Thanks to the helpful tourguide of the kiwis we had our passports back and we found out that we already had the visas without having to pay anything. Exhausted we got a service taxi and asked the driver to bring us to wadi musa right next to petra... 2 hours later we arrived... Had some yummy dinner and went straight to sleep....
I will continue this journal soon as i have to leave now...
