Here i am back in this cosy internet cafe right by the sea with a view to saudi arabia. It is still very windy but the wind is not uncomfortable.
Yesterday I walked along the water to a place called "blue lagoon" which was about 1 hour walk. I ended up staying there almost the whole day because it was so lovely. The water was shining in turquoise-bluish colors and the water was so clear. In the evening I went for dinner to a bedouin place directly at the water. This place has pillows arranged around small tables, candlelight and if youre sitting right at the water you sometimes get some drops of seawater into your face (had the fullmoon right above the water.. man it was so amazing!!). This is a place for spending a honeymoon. Dahab itself is not that BEAUTIFUL, but it has character, flair, ambiente and its so romantic here! *sniff sniff* haha
At night i jouned a tour to gebel musa (mount sinai where moses/musa received the 10 commandments) we left Dahab at 23:00 at night. Every 45 minutes we had to stop for a passport control at checkpoints and before entering and after a 2
hour drive we headed towards the peak of the 2285 m high mountain. It is incredible how much security here is. the gebel musa park bags of everybody were searched through. We were just a small group of 8 people, and i got together with 2 german girls. Once we passed the bag control we were surrounded by bedouins offering every tourist to ride up the mountain by camel. A friend told us before not to spend more than 30 egyptian pounds and they asked for 60 - 80 pounds. They were really pushy and after we refused to pay so much for the camel ride they kept on walking besides us for maybe half an hour until they finally accepted 40 pounds and the following 1,5 hours wed spend on the back of grumpy camels. The camel of the other girl kept on screaming, farting and lying down (lol), my camel tried several times to take off running away in gallop, fortunately the bedouin stopped it every time by merely clicking his tongue. At 3:00am we finally reached the last but most difficult part of the walk. (i kept on doubting the sanety of my mind.. climbing a 2285m
high mountain in the middle of the night on my holiday lol) The scenery was literally surreal!! We were lucky to have fullmoon shining us all along the way so we didnt even need torches. At 4:00 we arrived exhausted, tired and sweaty at the top of the mountain where bedouins offered us a mattress and tea. I really regret not to be able to speak arabic well so we didnt get to do much more than smalltalk. They appeared to be really friendly respectable, but also poor people. After drinking a glass of extra sweet peppermint tea i laid down on a mattress and fell asleep... got interrupted every 15 min by someone yelling "RAMSES!!! RAMSES!!!" At 6 am one of the bedouins woke me up so sweetly informing me that the sun is about to rise. He showed me a good place to watch it and so we waited... then the sun appeared. First it was a small half disc until it turned into a red fire ball. It was sooo amazing! I imagined what it was like for moses when he climbed the mountain. It must have been very tough for him as slopes r very steep
and also temperatures can be absolutely unbearable over day. I wonder how heavy the rock discs with the 10 commandments were... it was amazing that moses managed to carry them down such a wild mountain (poor moses and israelites, only now i really saw what it must have been like for them to wander through the wilderness for 40 years... The sinai desert is HOT, dusty, rough and beautiful, but somone probably can easily loose his mind only while spending there a month. Jehovah offered them a great protection (i wouldnt even survive there for 3 days)
When i returne dto the hotel i found out that the manager spared me a room with aircon and offered it for half of the regular price so i quickly packed my stuff, moved to the new room (it even has an own bathroom!!) and finally had an extra nice and long nap in an airconditioned room 😊
Anyway.. im gonna go to swim in the blue lagoon now watching the sunset over the sinai mountains...
will continue my text later 😊
so long
