hey everyone,

i'm still around just had a busy last few days and have been away from internet. week three at CCS was great. it was really busy. School was good although one day, when we didn't have a swahili supervisor the kids had a riot in the classroom and there was nothing we could do to control them. there was a brawl in the middle of the tiny classroom. we kept repeating" sit quiet" and "stop" and "no" in swahili but the message just wasn't getting through. we ended up just walking out and gettting assistance, they only listen when the wooden stick comes out.... funny now, a little crazy at the time.

on the monday night we went to visit a place called the united african amercian community association. it is run by Pete O'neal, an Black Panther living in exile from the US. He gave us a talk about the times of the black panthers and of his project here in tanzania where he has been living for the last 30 years. pretty interesting "I was just mad at the Police".

friday the school threw us a going away party as it was the last day of volunteering. it was really cute, the kids all thanked us and sang and danced to a good-bye song. they are so cute somtimes! then we had a bit of a dance party with them in the classroom and the little boys had to climb the walls and hang off the windows, there is no thought to safety here.

Emily and i went into Arusha friday afternoon to finish our travel plans, we took the dala dala (minibus) and the guy who got on after us had 2 dead chickens in his hand, anything goes in africa! one of my other friends said she saw a chicken hop onto the dala dala by itself, without a person....weird, does it have to pay??

friday night we celebrated the end of our CCS adventure with our new friends. friday night we arranged to have a popular tanz reggae band play at the pub beside the CCS house. it was a fun night. it was sad to say goodbye to everyone. Saturday Emily and I left for the Serengeti!

running out of time more to come on serengeti and zanzibar (we have just arrived in zan)

heather! miss yah!
