the big round thing in the middle is the iwerks 4d theatre
Have been to many science centres over the years and they are always good fun. Decided to make it one of my first stops here as Shanghai is always trying to be the biggest and best at everything they do.
Price was reasonable and the had a normal imax(state of the arc in glasgow) an imax 3d dome and an iwerks 4d theatre within the science centre. None of the movies were in englsih or had english subtitles which was a bit dissapointng. Choice to watch the 3d dome and the human body as you dont need to much narration. The dome was strange, but sore on the eyes and neck as you had to move your head a watch to see what was happening. The iwerks 4d did not have any narration, only graphics, so i bought a ticket for it as well. The movie was lego racers. It was a cartoon about twenty mins long with a dodgy plot, but i wasnt here to write a critical review on the storyline. It was a brilliant cinema experience. The movie was just a big car race and you felt the wind rush past you whenever the lego guy overtook someone. You also had water splashing on you when you went through a puddle and the chair shook every time you made a sudden move. It was good and i can imagine it getting better when they start to make more and better movies.
The science centre was good as well. However the was not much that was spectcular and it would have been a lot better if someone else was with me. Someone to laugh at me when i was trying out all the games. The best was either competing against a robotic arm at archery or taking penalties into a virtual reality goalkeeper, wii style.
