We left Nelson on Tuesday morning and drove to Picton which is the ferry port to get the ferry across to the north island. We said goodbye to our little car and dropped it off at 10.30am. Our ferry wasn't until 1.15pm so we had some time to kill in Picton. Its a small port and town so a few hours is all you need.

As it was sunny, all i wanted to do was sit outside and chill. The 'kids' (AKA Chris and Helen) made me hire a stupid toy sail boat and we had races with the boats across a pool! Kept me entertained for a few mins before i went back to sitting in the sun. The joys of Picton, what a place!!

The ferry between the 2 islands is supposed to be the most memorable of your life, so the flyers say. Can't really say i agree with that, in fact i think that may be false advertising! It was alright, a little bit rough but the ferry was huge and big enough to keep us entertained. Reminded me of getting the ferry across from Dover to Calais.

We arrived at Wellington and realised it was too far to walk to our hostel so we went crazy and got a taxi! We really know how to live on the wild side. Wellington gave us good vibes! At last a city of real size! Checked into our hostel, called Nomads Central. It was really nice and a good location. By then it was about 6pm, and in the bar nextdoor you get a free meal and 2 4 1 on all drinks so we took full advantage of that.

I have heard people say they didn't think much to Wellington but i think its underrated. Did you know it has more coffee shops per head than NYC! There are restaurants, cafes and bars everywhere. After dinner, we explored the trendy Courtney Place part of the city where most of the life is. Cheap beer all round.

On of the guys in our dorm seemed really nice. He was going out clubbing whilst we went to bed at 11 as we were up at 5.45am the next day. Like i say he seemed nice, until he got home at 3.30am and turned out to be the loudest snorer EVER! I was so annoyed. Reminded me of family holidays, sharing a family room and dad snoring all night. It is the most awful noise, thank god we left this a.m. Thank good as well, Helen, Chris and Andrew don't snore, i may have to kill them otherwise.

We left Wellington this morning and got the coach to Taupo. It took about 6 hours. Checked into our hostel in Taupo, its called Rainbow Lodge. Its really nice, we have a 3 share dorm which is good as it means a break from randoms!. Am all randomed out after Mr Snore-all-
night!

Taupo seems nice, busy and lots to do so am liking it. We ae looking into to sky dives, possibly for tomorrow but the weather is not meant to be good so we are going to wait and see!
