Happy Easter Everyone! Hope your scoffing lots of chocolate eggs. Have stocked up with cadburys cream eggs today as they were half price!
The second night in the hostel from hell in Kaikoura was actually ok. We hired extra blankets so made it through the freezing cold night! Left there this morning at 10am on route for Nelson.
We travelled through Blenheim and stopped and had lunch there. The weather is hot today so all is good. Drove on and finally arrived in Nelson at about 2.30pm. Its a small city, population of 52,000. Seems really nice, a bit sleepy today but its easter sunday so nothing is really open.
Checked into our hostel, Palace backpackers. Seems nice, we've got a 5 bedded dorm in a holiday shalet part of the hostel. Seperate bathroom, kitchen and lounge so quite luxurious really.
Had a walk around Nelson and had a beer in a cafe, sat out in the sun!Walked along South Street which is the oldest preserved street in NZ.
P.S. Some of you may have been smart enough to notice my picture of the dusky dolphins may not have been authentic! Or maybe it was
South Street
The oldest preserved street in NZ. So we've seen the steepest, now heres the oldest. just you Andrew. Ok, ok - we DID see them but they jump so quickly I couldn't take one! There was a picture of them on the flat screen TV on the boat so everyone cheated and took photos of that! Anyway, have included a picture Helen took of them to show it was for real.
