A classic view
Spent today exploring Sydney. It was very hot today and humid so I am missing the fresh air of NZ. We wandered through the city and made our way to the botanic gardens. It's all very impressive and seems much grander than cities in NZ. There are a lot of parks filled with interesting birds. I saw Ibis's flocking round eating bread like pidgeons! I've also seen a myner bird and Currawong. The botanic gardens are impressive. We were just wandering along really and become aware of very loud screeching. I was looking around to see what bird was making the sound and realised it was hundreds of bats! They are flying foxes and are pretty big - rabbit size. Most of them are just hanging upside down in the trees but quite a few were flying around. We got a really good look - maybe too good a look for Shashi - she wasn't too keen on them. We spent quite a long time walking around before heading out to the waters edge to get our first glimpse of the Opera House. I know it is only a building but it was very exciting to see such an iconic building
Bats!!Bats!!Bats!!

And lots of them
for real. We were looking at it from across the water, walking along the park and I thought it was absolutely baking but we were being passed every minute my joggers. They must be insane running in that kind of heat! We made our way (slowly) back to the hostel after that and have been resting and taking it easy since, although mustered the energy to go to the hostel bar next door this evening.

Pics
Hey, thanks for the tip on the pics. Cool to see them. You have all the same pics as me now! :-) Keep having fun. Are you going to go to Fraser Island? Interested to know what you think of Surfers - as you know I wasn't a fan, but maybe you'll love it! Take care and have a fab time, Jen xx
