I am sitting here at work on a Saturday...why?? Today is PTA day so parents will watch classes in the afternoon. The good news is that there is no school on Monday to make up for us being here today. I don't know if I mentioned this before, but in Japan, kids go to school on weekends as well as the teachers. They do bukatsu (club activities) and don't go to classes. So really, they are in school ALL THE TIME. I don't know how they do it. I can't see American kids going to school just so they can practice football or whatever sport they play every day of the year. Three months of summer vacation does not exist here. It's very sad.

I am supposed to have four classes today, but am not going to the third one because it is the usual ninensei (2nd years, aka 8th graders) English class = translating English sentences to Japanese. Also, lately the trainee teacher and my JTE have been teaching the classes together so there are two teachers already for one class. It's a little much when three of us are there together. Especially when I am not running an activity and only reading sentences aloud for them to repeat (aka CD player desu -_- ) .

The weekend should be fun though! I am going to Yonago (the next big city after Tottori on the Western side of our tiny prefecture) tonight to see my friend, Dao, and tomorrow we are going to Matsue (a city in Shimane ken, the next prefecture over) to watch the Vagina Monologues! A few JETs are helping to put it on and it'll be half in English, half in Japanese so that should be interesting. There are also a couple of Filipinos over on that side of the ken so I am going to meet up with them! Juval, Dao's Filipino friend, is gonna make Filipino food and teach me how to cook something too, so we'll see how that goes. Then tomorrow night, I'm going back to After Hours for Rock Night! Don't know how many bands are playing, but After Hours is a really fun place so I'm sure it'll be good. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
