Wedesnday 27th. Caught the over night train from Luxor to Cairo via first class seats again. Upon arriving back at Cairo I checked into the hotel and then went out on the town again for dinner. The following day was mainly used up in transit where I went by coach under the sewers canal through to Sinai.

The scenery was amazing with hills/mountains sort of rolled over many times through the many years showing thick sedimentary lines, not like anything I had ever seen before. Checkpoints where all over the place so much so that it was like driving through a war zone. The contrast of barren lands on one side and the emerald green of the water on the other side with the added contrast of well pumps and oil rigs spotted here and there all the way along the coast line.

Today (thursday 28th) we checked into to the hotel at Mount Sinai but due to the extremely cold temperature I decided to choose not to climb the mountain. Today we headed off back to the coast line and into the warm weather again and to the famous town of Dahab.

Dahab is like a tropical

This place was FREEZING as inviting as the pool looks the air temp was only a few degrees above and at night quite a few below
beach town, situated right on the Gulf of Aqaba, the coastline to the Red Sea. It’s a rapidly growing town which now seems to be turning very commercialistic.

However right now it’s not so bad, no chain stores have moved in… yet! But non the less I checked in early then look a walk along the breach front only to return soon to my room and sort some things out for tonight.

This night we all went as a group and ate out at a water side restaurant serving seafood. The food platters where HUGE but the price was very cheap (comparative to Australia) one big difference also is over here they do their fishing in the evening as the sun goes down instead of in the morning so the catch we ate had only been pulled from the water a couple of hours ago.

This place is not at all like anywhere else in Egypt, I would say it is a family place - somewhere you would bring the kids.

Beach side dining, they setup fires where ever you ask. It wasn't that cold though but still nice to have the fires.

I had to laugh since when I saw your photos since I did exactly the same: capturing the size on photo!
