Pilot Jo Jo
Wanna come come for a ride? From Airlie we headed onto a place called Agnes Waters and stayed in a small town named '1770' we were only planning on staying in 1770 for a couple of nights but we soon found out the small town had heeps to offer... so we made the most of it and stayed over a week
Found out that renting a house worked out a quarter of the price to staying in a hostel, so we went for the house option... was soo nice to have proper homely comforts around us - our own kitchen a bathroom which actually had a bath in it, there was a t.v / BBQ everything you'd want in a house - was just pure luxury! you don't appreciate the small home comforts until you have to que to use a shower or wait until a pot comes free in the kitchen to do dinner - i know thats partly what travelling is about but once in a while i think a touch of luxury is called for!!
Activities are real cheap here so i made a challenge for myself to become a surfing pro... i paid for a lesson ($16.50 - Bargain! about 7 quid
at home) then i hired a board for about 3 days, i managed to stand on the board... well just about (for a second or two) before fallin off into the water but i perservied and continued and continued until i got to the stage of having serious board rash which wore my sking away (ouch, yeah not nice) i'm just healing now so when i get to Surfers paradise i reckon i'll be on top form to show my skills off, if you hear no more of the surfing then you know i made a foul of myself!! 😊
On another afternoon we (Me, Becki and Katy) went flying in a acrobat aircraft which performs nose dives and a load of cool scary tricks - i managed to find a guy named 'Bruce' (haha - half way there, private joke to you who know i was gonna find someone named Bruce and Sheila whilst out here) he was our pilot for some of the ride the remainder of the flight i become the Pilot!!!! yes Jo Jo flew a aircraft!! was absolutely crazy - i went through some windy parts and felt a touch of turbalance and totally
Scooter Roo
Natural born pro! sh*t myself and i had to hand it back over to Bruce to continue his job - but at least i can say i flew a plane now!!
Another thing I manage to do whilst here in 1770 was to ride a mini Harley Davidson bike on a Scooter Roo tour - was awsome!! I have never driven a bike before in my life, tell a lie - i did once when i was a kid on holiday in turkey but fell off within seconds of being on it!! That was years ago, so i thought i'd give it another shot and it was great feeling having the wind flying passed whilst your full throttling the bike is just incredible - we drove around the town of 1770 manage to see some wild kangaroos, went to the one and only pub in 1770 to watch the sunset whilst drinking a beer and eating potato wedges with sour cream cheese and sweet chilli souce - delicious! so after the beer i gained the confidence and thought i was the best rider among our group of about 15 girls and 20 boys and decided to take the boys on for a
race - and y'know what i won!! well apparently one of the guys reckon i came second but thats only cause he parked his bike up before mine... so i say I WON!! boys really don't like loosing to a girl!! BOYS!! i think jo might become a biker when she gets home... watch out - i'll have the full works including the leathers... possibly a request for 2007 xmas pressie!?!?!? mum / dad???
Sorry for the veryyyy long blog entry so much has been happening in such little time - next point of call is Rainbow Beach for our Fraser Island trip....
