Can someone advice me if I making a huge mistake!!?
16 years ago, April 21st 2008 No: 1 Msg: #33202
Hi all! Im hoping to head to Australia in Dec for 12months! I have got a working Visa and am planning to do sesonal work so I can stay longer! All being well!
Basically im pretty scared about going! Im going on my own & thats what scares me most! A friend of a frend is going to sort me out with somewhere to stay but how easy is it to get a job etc! Is there anything else I need to have organised before I go?? I have heard that alot of people travel on there own so everyone helps each other out! Im just afraid of running into the wrong crowd! Im hoping to stay in a flat with others but does this cost alot!? Im hoping to get a decent job so I can afford to travel, socialise and also go out!
Also is it right that I need to book return flights even though I have my Visa?

Sorry for all the questions!

Dont worry about traveling alone, I'm leaving in September to travel alone through Asia, Aussie, NZ and South America... Loads of people do it, as long as you use common sense and stick to safe areas I'm sure everything will be fine.

As to the visa and work stuff, im not sure im afraid but im sure someone else can help.

Hello Julie 😊

I dont think you are making a big mistake.
Of course how your time in Australia pans out is up to you. You can get a job and save up to do some travelling or you can spend all your time drinking and partying. It does not matter which crowd you run into. You can still do what you want.

Ask the Australian Consulate if you need a return ticket.

There is a forum on this site to search for travelling companions. Maybe there are some more people who are doing what you are and will want to mee up with you in Australia. Here is a link to it.

Hi again Julie!

Just to let you know, I will be arriving in Australia, Sydney, to be precise in December, probably near to the end for the New Year, I will then be in Australia for 3 months approx exploring.

If you'd like to chat a bit on MSN or Yahoo id be more than happy to, then if we are going to be in the same places at any time we could meet up!

I've dropped you a private message with my msn and yahoo details.

Look forward to hearing from you,

it is not a mistake, and with the recent ruling in Down under enabling intl students to work, it should not be that much of a prob getting settled in, as for the wrong crowd, well i guess you would have to figure that one out, sorry, 😊
