planing trip in Febuary 2008 to explore jungles and mountains of central or south, in a small group in a safe area
hi there!
im planing to spend 2 weeks in febuary in central or south america, hopefully exploring mountains and jungles. i'd like to find the least touristy places, whilst being in a safe area. thinking of either Colombia or Guatemala. I went to colombia summer 2007 and loved it. just a bit worried going by myself or in a small group, as im from england, and dont have much spanish behind me. i'd kind of want to steer away from peru, as the inca trail brings a lot of people there. i'd also like to be able to get a flight out somewhere, and get straight to he jungle or mountains really quickly and cheaply. i'd like to join a small group, perhaps mountain or jungle treking, river canoeing or kayaking or rafting.
does anyone have any tips or recomendations? any websites would be really appreciated!
thanks all!
Dave

Reply to this I'll be in Central America as well in Feb. I'm going to Panama on Jan 10th and spending two months between there and Nicaragua. I'll be spending a lot of time near the coast, but am planning on some good hikes as well. I'm also looking into spending some time on the rivers in Costa Rica. I've got some river guiding experience and want to hang out with the folks that are doing it down there. I'm traveling alone and I'll be looking for others in a similar situation.
Let me Know!!
