I was told by others that when they travel to Asia they can stay at peoples homes (rent a room) for cheep.

I was wondering is there any information on this before I go to Asia this year. I am planning to go to either/or Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand (already visited previous year.)

Hi icedragon,

In Malaysia, it is possible to do so. As for Sabah (Borneo) where I'm from, there are homestays available. This will be a great chance for people to experience the local community's way of living. Aside from that, there are also service apartments, bed & breakfast - all these comes in reasonably priced, if not cheap. For Malaysia in general, you can checkout http://tourism.gov.myhttp://tourism.gov.my and for Sabah, surf to http://www.sabahtourism.com .

Cheers,
Charles. Reply to this

I don't really know about a room to be rent for daily in Jakarta, Indonesia, I think u might can find it on Jalan Jaksa.

But, if u want to stay in Jakarta for a month, u can rent an apartment. I have an apartment to be rent monthly. In Apartment Rasuna (maybe u have heard about it if u have visited Jakarta before) which is located in Jl. Rasuna Said, Kuningan, Jakarta. It is in the heart of Jakarta. It's close to go any where and the transportation is very easy.

It is a fully furnished apartment with 2 rooms. If u have interest, u may send me message.

Thx.

Best Rgds,

one word of advice, if you're booking a room, ALWAYS ask for the photo of the room, rooms without photos tend to be absolutely disgusting rooms, so make sure you have a nice one before you fork over, because you don't get your money back if you don't like it. Reply to this
