Reply to this David, the award gets you noticed by more people. Once you have 5 followers and publish a blog with 5 photos and 500 words it ends up on the front page of travel blog. The award generally gains attention from others and they start reading and following your blog.
Plus if you see blogs you are enjoying reading and follow those people they will generally pay more attention to your blogs. Congratulations.
