Worth the money?

Will be going out to the inca trail in june time, planning to go with SAS travel. Has anyone been with this company before or have any other recommended companies.

Anyway my main point is there is a US$45 charge for hiring a porter for the 4 day treck. Would this be worthwhile? Reply to this

I brought my heavy backpack (77L) with me and got a porter to carry it. To avoid this, try to pack of all of your things required for the trek into a 30L backpack and carry that and leave the remainder of your belongings (and heavier backpack) at a hostel back in Cuszco. I think its doable with your daypack and don't really need a porter unless you're attempting to trail run the entire thing with only a camelbak. Reply to this

Hi,

we went with SAS travel and I would say a porter is worth it. I personally found the whole experience much more enjoyable without having to carry my stuff around. If you can fit everything into a daypack then you could do it without.

SAS travel were fine! I felt very safe with them and they fed us well. Reply to this

Chimu Adventures ! - 3 times I have said it in the last 10 mins !! :P
I was going to book with SAS, but was alarmed when they told me to email my credit card details, or send a money transfer by western union! - it was a worry for me!
