Hi, I hope somebody can answer my question ASAP. My wife and three children (14, 11 and 4 years old) are planning to visit Milan during the Milan Expo 2015 in May. Applying a Schengen Visa requires flight and hotel booking, do I have to purchase the flight and hotel booking before I apply for a visa or reservation is fine? I have heard and read some discussion about VIA, how will it help my family's visa application. Also they will visit me in Milan during the expo time.

Since 1993 I do independent travelling on my own. I have been to a total of 55 countries on 5 continents. During these times I never had severe problems. In fact I never lost my wallet, flight ticket or something similar or ithey got stolen.
