Planning an anniversary trip for the end of December 2012 beginning of January 2013.

Hi All,

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip for our two year anniversary this winter. The date is on New Years Day so we will either be going the weekend before or the day of. We would live right outside of NYC and do not feel like staying in NY. We need some ideas where to go that is not boring in the winter. Also we would like to be able to drive there instead of fly. So mostly we are looking at the east coast no further than the South Carolina. We would possibly like to go skiing and would like tips of where to go/places to stay.

Thanks,

Hi, do you mean you dont want to go to NYC or you just dont want to stay in NYC? You could stay over in Hanover (New Jersey) and it is a 10 minute train ride through the tunnel over to NY?

We stayed one time in the Poconos which are about 30 min to 1 hr west of NYC. It is known as a romantic location and it was highly amusing how bgrade and cheesy it was - heart shaped bed, mirrored ceilings, spa in a champagne glass etc. But...might be a fun and different idea for an anniversary???

We used to go skiing in Harrisburg Pennsylvania which is 2 hours west of NYC. It had some good slopes although not sure any of the accomodation would be considered too amazing. Otherwise Phillie or DC might be worth visiting if you dont mind a bit of a roadtrip...both have heaps to do from museums and historical monuments to a-grade concerts and entertainment.
