Nominations are now over - we received over 160 - voting now complete.
The blogs are now being short-listed via public voting (now until - 1st May) - it's through a facebook application, so a good strategy is to;
1) Put up a blog from Malaysia saying that you are nominated (and how exciting that is)
Upload a logo
full size logo and link to your best blog entries from Malaysia. Most importantly put a link to your nomination on MITBCA.com and leave instructions how to vote for you.
2) Start promoting on facebook, post your blog entry, ask for votes. Ask your friends to get their friends to vote!
It is currently a popularity contest - (with all the ups and downs that go with that) - the top nominations will be short-listed and the winner decided by a panel from the Ministry of Tourism.
For more information - see:
MITBCA website,
MITBCA on FaceBook and
MITBCA on Twitter
If you are going to be in Kuala Lumpur during the 8th & 9th May - the conference is free - register at:

Good luck everyone 😊

Reply to this Can I add anything to my Malaysian travelblog with the link to the MITBCA?
Reply to this MITBCA introduced a search function this morning - it should be easier to find your blogs nows.
Reply to this I've just been informed that there is now a Register & Vote option for non-facebook users...
Reply to this I am really disappointed now. I have just received the following email from MITBCA which effectively makes all travelblog.org entries null and void.
Dear Blog Owner,
This is to remind you that The Malaysia International Tourism Bloggers Awards voting closes at 11.59pm on 1st May 2012.
Encourage your Followers / Readers to vote for your blog.
Please note that, its mandatory to promote MITBCA (Malaysia International Tourism Bloggers Conference & Awards) in your blog .

How was I to know 3 years ago that I was to promote a conference in the future.

Reply to this I placed the advice to post something about the competition in a blog entry, in the first post above, mainly to ensure that blogs weren't eliminated due to that condition.
Just something short and sweet will be enough to meet that requirement.
I met briefly with the Ministry today - they are really excited about the attention from International Bloggers gained through travelblog. They hope to be able to make this event annual.
Reply to this Reading the winning blog, China would definitely be a very interesting place to visit

Has anybody else been looking through the finalists in the other categories? I'm finding it really interesting, especially guessing what the food on the foodie blogs might be. I think Britain should hold an event like this -Britain plc needs a boost to its economy! Ther's a nice eco blog from a girl who volunteers when she travels. I was very interested in intuitive traveller's blog and voted for it.
