Passport restrictions for Guatemala and other countries in Central America.
I am planning a trip to Guatemala in March. I'll be spending most of my time in orphanages around the Antigua area as well as some time in Peten. As of right now, I do not have a US passport but am in the process of applying for one. On some websites I have read that a valid passport of at least 6 months is required to enter Guatemala, but other websites (travel.state.gov) don't give a specific amount of time.
My question is would I have problems getting into Guatemala if my passport has only been valid for about 2 months when I travel? How strict is that process?
If yes, are there other countries that don't place these same restrictions on passports that might be easier for me to travel to?
Thanks!
Reply to this I believe the validity on passports which you refer to is to the expiry date - not date of issue.
Therefore with a new passport there shouldn't be any problems
