I need to know the cost altogether. That means flights, personal purchase, hotels, sightseeing, etc. These are the places I will be visiting:

Africa
London
France
Spain
Russia
Turkey
South Korea
Australia
Japan
India
Brazil
Alaska
California
Iceland

Hello and welcome to Travelblog!

Could you please state which countries in Africa you wish to visit? Costs can vary greatly between different nations. Also, do you intend to go on safari in Africa?

Could you also state how long you intend to travel for as a total, or if you know how long you want to be in each place, please let us know.

Of all the places you have visited, I believe Iceland is the most expensive. Reply to this

I would like to visit South Africa, and yes, I intend to go on a safari there.

I would like to travel for a 12 months. I am not sure how long I would like to stay in each place- if you have any personal opinions please let me know! Reply to this

Hello again

This is a difficult one to answer as you intend to travel such a long time.

There are various ways to determine the cost in each place, I put them into the following:
- Transport (Airfares etc)
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Miscellaneous (entrance fees, souvenirs etc)

Due to the places you are visiting, it would be difficult to see you being able to spend less than $60 per day on accommodation and $20 per day for food. This is an average as some places will be more expensive and other places will be cheaper. Add another $20 per day for miscellaneous expenses and you will come onto $36,500 per year for living expenses without transport.

Calculating flights here is difficult, as it would likely be a more expensive round the world variety, and that would be around $3,000 per person, and then you would need to calculate internal transport costs.

However, I think that unless you are really used to travelling in basic places for extended periods, you may want to stay in more comfortable places for a change and this will increase you accommodation dramatically.

As a rough example, in my upcoming two month journey to North and South Asia, my budget is approximately $1,000 per week (including airfares to and from Australia to Korea and Thailand via Singapore) - but this is staying a reasonable places with occasional splurges and using better transport (flights instead of buses).

Southern Asia is one of the best places for long travel to make your dollar last and you can easily live in that part of the world for half the amounts listed above. Same applies to India and Sri Lanka. Reply to this
