I got an email from a young Egyptian male(28), wanting to rent a car in Cuba. If anyone is knowledgable about this topic, would you post information here.
He would like to know the price range, and how to get help in case of an accident.
As far as I remember, hotels have car rental services, and there are probably some at the airport too. I cant remember what the prices were. Maybe somebody else can help with more details.
Reply to this hey Mell, thanx alot for your support!

Reply to this just got back from cuba and whilst we didn't rent a car the hotels we stayed in had this service, and no doubt the airport would have too.
lonely planet - 2009 - said about $85 per day
hope that helps!
it is a fascinating place - blog to follow when we get a minute!
Reply to this I really don't think a rental is necessary for Cuba. But it depends on your itinerary. I met a nice swiss couple with kids and they had one of those tiny rental cars. They said it was about $85 a day, gas was fair and there are stations alll along the route. Even though they had a licence plate that does not require them to pick up people waiting on the side of the roads, they were still flagged down constantly and this made them nervous, a rental is a definate tourist beacon when driving through the towns.
I went completely across the island from Baracoa to Maria La Gorda without, it is easy to utilize private hire van/bus, public buses, taxis, cocotaxis, and walk! On the plus side, the highways are empty. You literally have the entire 4 lane to yourself, except the odd horse and cart and transport truck. Out of Havana and the resorts you can have a completely fantastic experience. You must stay in the casa paticulars in each town, each house has a blue anchor sign outside to signify they can rent a room to tourists. They were the best part of my trip, hands down.
