Travel Between Countries

My friend and I are struggling with transportation between countries...

Hi everyone! I am currently abroad for a semester in Ireland and have ten days off of school to do the majority of my travelling. A friend and I have decided to go on a quick adventure throughout a few countries in Europe. Our plan as of now is to leave Dublin on Friday, Oct. 7th and take a morning flight to Paris and spend 2 days there, followed by one day in each Munich, Prague, Vienna, and Venice, and then finish the trip with 2 days in Rome, taking night trains between each of the cities in order to save accommodation money. I know one day in most of these cities is not enough to do them justice, but I think the trip will be well worth it. We are struggling a bit with how to get from place to place though, and were wondering if you could help us with the best ways to travel between each of these places. We are considering the Eurail, but it seems a bit pricey to us. Any help would be awesome!! Reply to this

Hi Maddie,

Welcome to TravelBlog.

Have you looked into the regional or 'select' eurail passes?

seat61.com might have some info too. Reply to this

Hi Maddie

Well you certainly won't need a night train between Venice and Rome as it's only about a 4 hour train journey, so maybe leave Venice very early in the morning from Santa Lucia station. When I did Italy, I did 3 cities in one day (well 2 fully and arrived in my end destination at the end of the day) (Left Venice to go to Verona, then Bologna and ending in Florence) and that was pretty easy - tiring but enjoyable.

Check before you go to each city where each station's luggage storage is and just leave your luggage for the day to explore the city before boarding the next night train.

Try and look into the 'select' passes as Jo suggested. Reply to this
