You can consider Guangzhou (Canton). Guangzhou has a humid, hot sub-tropical climate. There are many tourist attractions around the city which include: Chen Clan Academy/Chan Clan Ancestral Hall, Shamian Island/Shameen Island, Guangdong Provincial Museum and others. More of Guangzhou Attractions on wiki

You can consider this <snip>
Hope it helps.

I had 4 weeks in China, which I blogged on here, but here were the cities I saw:
Shanghai
Zhouzhuang
Suzhou
Nanjing
Beijing
Xi'an
Hong Kong
Macau

I would've liked to also see Lhasa (Tibet) and Guilin, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and some of the more nature filled towns like Lijiang, Zhangjiajie, Jiuzhaigou, and Yangshuo.
I'm going to try to do a Tibet trip some time soon and also see the other cities I didn't have time for last summer when I went. I took my time the 4 weeks, but still saw a lot. I can also post my itinerary and what I saw in each city if you want

Everything listed here is worth seeing. I can add that Sichuan will give you another survey of China. What can you do there ? going to chengdu to visit the pandas base. This nice animal is the symbol of Chine (and WWF of course). There are also buddhist and taoist temples and the nice old fashioned commercial street Jinli with shows in the Wuhou theatre. From chengdu you can go to Dazu and Leshan whiwh are great destinations in China. From Sichuan, you can also leave to Tibet.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to go to Jiuzhaigou-valley or Guilin as I stayed only two weeks. But if you plan three weeks, then you should be able to go there. Don't miss it ! Reply to this

That is a big question: Go to Asia blogs. I listed my blog there with over 250 stories and pictures on my 22 years of traveling all through China. Some of the best places are: Beijing, LiJiang, Guilin, Yangshuo, Shangrila, Xishuangbanna, and anywhere on the Silk Road. Many other places too numerous to mention. Parks are like Juizhaigou, Zharu Valley, Huashan, Huangshan. Reply to this

there are a lot of must sees and in 3 weeks you wont be able to make it to all of them anyways. If there is one place you cant miss in China I would say it is Beijing and the Great Wall.
If there was one famous place I think you can leave out without missing too much, it is Shanghai. Reply to this
