I'd like to visit an Ashram in India for a week or two, but am a little overwhelmed by all the places I've seen online. Anyone know a good ashram they could recommend?I was thinking either Keral or Rishikesh.
I'm very interested in spending some time in an Ashram in India, but am nervous about going to a really touristy place. I'd say my experience is beginner-intermediate and I've practiced Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga. I basically want a peaceful and beautiful environment to do some yoga, meditate, eat well and rest. It doesn't have to be anywhere fancy, simple is good. I heard there were some nice places in Keral or Rishikesh. Since I'm beginning my trip in New Delhi, I thought it might make more sense to visit an ashram in Rishikesh. I'll be arriving to India in mid-March. Would appreciate any suggestions you can offer. 😊
Reply to this At the outset, You have 'Art of Living' headquartered ashram in south of India for some brilliant yoga therapies.
Second, Haridwar/Rishikesh is full of Ashrama. One famous is right at the outskirts of Hardwar, promoted by Baba Ramdev - Excellent Yoga Teacher.
Varanasi is another option. One of my friends Tara Mooney trained to be a yoga teacher at one of Varanasi's Yoga Schools.
