So in a nut shell, can it be cheap to buy tickets whilst in South America, or is the best option to move around through rtw airticket, or to wing it by land and see where it takes me.
Thanks
Hi, I've found a reasonable flight to get me into Guatemala from the UK, but would like some feedback on after.
Is it worth getting a rtw ticket, or easier and cheaper to travel by land and the occasional flight from there to Argentina. The idea of by land looks fantastic as i'll see and experience so much more.
Reply to this Bussing through Central and Sth America is very easy and if 1 person ,for every seat on the plane ,drove a car the same distance it would create less polution. But having said this it all depends on how long you have.
Reply to this As above, it is really cheap and easy to travel by bus in South America. It becomes more pricey in Argentina but the quality of the buses there is really very good, which we enjoyed after being chucked around in old rust buckets in Bolivia!
In the south of Argentina we took three flights, which were pretty cheap, as the distances are huge and we didn't fancy bus journeys of more than 30 hours!
Reply to this wing it! if you have time then go by land, you'll see far more!
if you are going on around the world then get a ticket with flexible dates.
we travelled from rio to mexico city overland over 6 months which was pretty quick. we took a flight in oeru and colombia to get in and out of the jungle but other than that we bussed/boated everywhere and loved it. the flights were relitively cheap.
have a look at our blogs and ask any questions
