 It never rains in Southern California It never rains in Southern California Post Count: 4 Msg: #1 10 days ago, November 11th 2009 | hey there! | After finishing my internship in california I\'m planning a trip to Hawaii in 2 weeks and later via Florida back to Germany. I don\'t want to plan everything except for the flights in advance. Is it possible? And does anybody have some useful advices. Especially for travelling alone. I am planning to sleep in hostels to meet other backpackers;-) In Florida I'll spend some days in Miami and than rent a car and drive around. Which places are worth to be seen? And is there anybody who wants to join me on my trip? Thanks so much in advance! Silke.  Nomadic Dreams Laure and David ( ld! ) Post Count: 19 Msg: #2 8 days ago, November 13th 2009 | Renting a car is definitely worth it as most things are spread out in South Florida. | Recommendations in the Miami area: 1) South Beach. Walk up and down Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. Eat outside on either Lincoln Road or Ocean Drive -- it's very nice to people watch there. Hit a club on Washington -- ask around to see what's happening (depends on the day of the week). 2) Everglades. Try to visit some portion of the Everglades. Shark Valley is a wonderful place to see lots of wildlife. 3) Visit the surrounding South Florida beaches. Miami Beach is beautiful, just north at 41st is also nice. Our favorite is Crandon Park on Key Biscayne. 4) Head south-- visit the Alligator farm , and while you're in the area, visit Knaus for delicious homemade cinnamon rolls and milk/fruit-shakes. Then continue south to Key Largo to snorkel, and if you have time, keep going south to Key West. It's always a party in Key West!! Questions? Want other ideas? I will be travelling (driving )to Florida alone from San Antonio Starting from Nov 25 and will reach there on Nov 26th.
