You need to leave or pay big money for penalities with posibility that you might not be able to come back for a while if it is a major overstay.

As I understand it at any of the Asia embassys you can get a 60 day visa for free for the past 6 months or so they are offering to boost tourism. I got one in Phnom Penh and it took 3 days and was as advertised free.

I flew from Luang Prabang to Bangkok and they only gave me 15 days so the immigration person can screw you over if they like.

Hi, i have the same problem! My girlfriend has just crossed the border from cambodia into thailand, and was given only a 15 day visa, we plan to stay 30 days. Im ok as im flying in tomorrow so will get a 30 day stamp!

We dont want to have to go to malaysia to extend the visa by 15 days, and also dont want to have to go back to bangkok 15 days in to extend it either, as we will be in surat thani aroud that time! Does anyone know of any other places we can go to get it extended? Phuket? Krabi?

Immigration Bureau, Thailand

Click on checkpoints a the top of the page that opens with this link, to get a list of immigration offices all over Thailand. I think any of them can extend the visas.
