Wow I have been spending a fair bit of time on this particular St Augustine Bed and Breakfast a luxury waterfront location but if you are looking to spoil yourself for a couple of days while you are in the USA this is the way to do it. St Augustine is the oldest city in the USA and this place is jam packed with cool things to do on the land and out on the ocean. Right now they have the lights festival going on where the whole town gets together for this month long festival which highlights all of the cool historic houses and stores like the Westcott House B&B. Some interesting information that I received and acted on. the first probbably not going to be usefull but something to keep in mind. AMEX if you can get a Platinum AMEX you can book a companion ticket for free if you are in business or First class at all you need to do is pay the taxes. While this at first seems like hey why tease us with this as this is a backpacking website but I try to book all of my flights with AMEX as they have the best free coverages like baggage lost and if the bird augers in they pay as much as 3 times the amount as the other cards out there having said that here is a interesting thing as well. 2 things actually! 1) if you have more than ... read more

Many people come out to Asia and one of the ways that they support themselves is by becoming dive masters which is a good thing but I wrote an article on my site titled Dive Master or Instructor that goes in to some detail on why you should become an instructor as you will have a much better chance of finding work and paying off all of the classes ,dive equipment and fees. Becuase hey, diving is a great way to spend your gap year or to get a way for a long time and see a lot of Asia Like Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia to name just a few of the places that you can go with a instructor ticket. In Cambodia In Phnom Penh and it has only been a year but the changes are still pretty hard to imiagine as the pace of the change is non stop. While every where else the building boom has slowed down here in the kingdom it has continued to keep going. Much still remains the same the traffic is heavier and they still drive like they beleive that they are the only ones on the road and they have no problem with allmost running you over every time that you cross a street. The food is still the same but a little more expensive. I was in Komodo and i got a leg infection and I made the big mistake of not taking care of it right away. This can anywhere in Asia result in a major problem. I knew this from when I was in Cambodia I got a leg infection that got so bad that i needed to be hospilized to cure it taking Intravenous Cepro to knock it out and some very uncool sessions emptying the puss and other nasty goo from my leg. In Indonesia I went to a Bali pharmacy and they seemed like they knew what they were doing and they were using proper hygine precuations but that was a kind of disaster that I avoided by taking 3 times the ammount of the wrong drug to eventually knock it out or so I ... read more

Well I am back in the USA for the next 10 weeks and I all ready miss Asia, and I am all ready planning my next trip out. I got screwed because I did not book a cheap flight from Bangkok to LAX before 90 days. if you miss 60 days you really are going to have a hard time finding the cheaper flight deals that are out there. The main reason that I wanted to blog something is that I am getting a lot of comments that I have lost weight so the Asia Diet that I was doing was working now the real test trying to keep it off or better yet lose even more. Well I am trying to hang in there I had a giant set back in that I have not exercise for the past week do to a very nasty leg infection that I got while doing a Indonesia dive Livaboard which had nothing to do with the livaboard just my stupidity in not taking care of a open wound, when I was diving some of the best stuff that Asia dive sites have to offer! Exersise and diet are the two things that will make you successful as I have been told by many. One of the things that I am having a hard time adapting too which is critical to a good diet is to eat early and them don't eat several hours before bed. Went to Komodo to go diving we were hoping to do day trips but it worked out to our advantage that the Mona Lisa livaboard of Komodo Cruises was the url=http://www.cheapcharlieshotels.com/htm/Asia%20Travel%20Liveaboards%20Indonesia.htmlcheapest diving in Komodo that we could find. The Komodo national park is one of the best diving areas in Asia and the world. There are many many dive sites including the famous Crystal and Castle Rock dive sites. These sites are awsome for the spectacle of what I like to call fish soup. There are hundreds of fish from antiahas and damsels to large black tuna sharks and even turtles that could care less that you are taking there photos. The PADI Divemaster thing is really a great work out everyday in the water today 2 dives and we taught a guy how to Free dive which kept us in the water for an additional hour. The PADI Divemaster course can be done in 8 days but If it esd me I would have felt ripped off as even in 15 days we are craming alot in and Steve now renamed Slugo the DMT came out here to Asia fairly well prepared. I did not know that being dehydrated can be a way to increase the chances of getting Bent aparently recently here in Bali a diver, instructor with lots of dives was not staying up on his water intake and got bent even though his computer said that he was with in the limits.
